Will need to plug it into to diagnostic computer and see what fault code it brings up

A flashing glowplug light means a major error and you should pull over immediately.

Intermittent flashing may well be a clogged fuel or air filter.

As stated above, get a diagnostic done as a matter of urgency before something serious rears it's ugly head.

It's highly possible that it was just a temporary sensor fault.

Keep an eye out for it again but hopefully it won't occur again.

when the light flashes have you got a total loss of power without the engine dieing? if so the most probable cause is likely to be a faulty throttle position sensor that unfortunately does not always show a fault code.

it is an easy enough fix though as all you need to do is the replace the throttle pedal assembly (3 bolts and 1 wiring plug) price can vary from £20 to about £80 / £90 depending if you go for a new or second hand pedal.

Remember also that not all systems on a car that can go wrong have a sensor attached which means that you can't always go by fault codes.
