I'm looking to get more power out of my car and my cousin is away to get her astra vxr (raft compared to a ford) remaped anyway I thought I would search about a local modification garage in Aberdeen quoted me an extra 21 bhp and it will cost just under 350 does anybody have their car remaped or know if this a worthy service to get done ?

if we are talking diesel then yes its worth it

51 bhp from a remap alone theyre having you on 30 to 40 usualy is max keeping the engine within safe limits

I got my 1.6TDCi 90Bhp remapped two weeks ago along with a Piper Stainless Duplex exhaust and Green Cotton Induction filter

Its now 120Bhp and 278nm Torque the remap cost me 220 euro and exhaust fitting was 80 euro at souhan.ie

I recommend getting an oil&filter change the same time as the remap to keep things clean.

And CodeRed manufacture uprated intercoolers that a direct replacment for the focus mk2 & mk2.5 proven to reduice charge temps by up to 30% check europeanparts ford. They are a german company which specialise in ford upgrade parts.

The 1.6TDCi can reach 140-150bhp with the 110 fuel injectors fitted but I'm happy to save my money to buy an intercooler and complete Stage 1

Yes mate,

Completly different car, no black smoke or any difference in fumes but more power, fuel econemy is slightly better than before and the car feels like a 1.8 N/A petrol but still the fuel econemy that is the 1.6TDCi.

I have a boost gauge fitted and I can confirm that the ecu remap gets more power from the engine itself and not just the turbo.

Boost comes on at 1700rpm - 3200rpm and boost has a peak of 27Psi which used to peak at 20Psi the top speed of 185kmh still limited but 160kmh in 4th is a smooth woosh through the gears no struggle or feeling that the car is being pushed to its limit. But all tested on private track of course, I don't recommend those speeds to be performed on an open road.

Also see this video, explains in great detail and sold it for me lol

Yes and yes.

Running a 1.8 tdci on a remap at 148bhp and it flies.

Why when you say one thing does someone assume they know everything... I have photos to prove my remap took my focus to 187bhp

You can run it at that but it won't be good for the engine.

The turbo can't sustain that strain for long and you will knack the engine.

I personally can't see anywhere in this thread where anyone is doubting you or assuming they know everything,

In fact I'm confused so please explain in more detail?

i dont know everything mate im saying that 51 bhp from just a remap is outwith the safe limits in past experience which is why many companies go to 40 bhp max above that they usually will upgrade injectors and intercooler usually an upgraded tiurbo to take th estrain maybe with more modern diesels things have changed but it just seems they put a bit much on it and may have sacraficed longevity of the engine and some parts in my old seat diesel the remap on that was over 46bhp the fuel pump went quickly the turbo went after 3000 miles and just spent more time being fixed.

im still active on the vw audi forum and even on a audi tt they wont hit 51bhp without doing the catback and intercooler and a few other pieces

I understand what your saying and those are upgrades that I'm gonna get in time. If my remap does have an effect on the car then I will definitely be taking it back to where I got it done!

A decent remapping place would never apply a map that would damage a car anyway.

i stand corrected it used to be 40bhp max more was possible but then you were into injectors etc how much can the pump handle

before the pumps always went due to the demand put on them and standard turbos wore out

Had my Kuga remapped and was the best thing I did.

Run soooo smooth now, lots more power, not that I thrash it anyway.

Its just more of a pleasure to drive.

Used these people, not the cheapest but better than most.
