My New Zetec-S

Hi All,

I picked up my new Focus last weekend, and it's been a whirlwind romance ever since.

I absolutely love the car. Everything about it is soooo much better than my previous Mk1.

I went from a 2.0l Petrol Mk1, to a 1.6tdci Mk3, and i'm absolutely loving it. The economy on the car is great! currently about 48mpg over 500 miles so far (not too shabby from the 22mpg i came from!)

I also think the Zetec-S is beautiful. I've had many compliments on it's looks and yeah, it's definitely fair to say i'm in love! I think the 18in wheels really suit the vehicle.

There's a couple of things I want to do to the car. I've swapped over to a Sony radio, and didn't like the Silver radio surrounds/air con bits, so got some black bits for them, and will be looking to get some interior LED's for the dome lights, and some white LED's for the Side lights, and puddle lamps in the next week or so.

Eventually i guess i'll buy some white headlamps/fogs as well, as they are disappoitningly yellow... but not yet...

If anyone has any advice on some simple mods, or some nice LED's they could recommend, then i'd love to hear what you've got to say!

I would advise you avoid the cheap LEDs on eBay and get a decent set, canbus ones. I bought cheap ones for my sidelights originally and they messed up the lighting on the whole car... had to go to back to the dealer for them to sort.

My car also had the overhead ambient lighting already installed, it just needed activating by a genious with the Ford software!

I am looking to paint my brake calipers red... Check out Pree's Focus, he painted his blue on his white Focus and it looks fantastic. Some white DMB overlays would look awesome on it as well :)

Great looking Motor , was the Sony a straight swap or did Ford do it? , i have been trying to find the 5" screen they use with the Satnav , but no luck so far.

Incidently that model has only been out in this country for 2 months.

Jim-rex... I am going to avoid the cheap ones... I've been looking on www.hids-direct.co.uk and they seem to have some good ones... Do you think Cree Led's be too bright for the interior/puddle lamps??

and overhead ambient lighting?? I don't even know what that is... but i'm interested! lol What do you mean??

Not too bothered about the brake calipers yet, although I must admit Pree's blue ones do look amazing!

Pree, I just swapped the Sony radio unit over myself... everything seems to work perfectly, I much prefer the look of the Sony radio and despite having not changed the Speakers I think it sounds better too!

If a Sat-Nav unit had become available, I would've gone for one of those, but i'm not too bothered as i really like the Tom-Tom on my phone... but I guess a 5in screen would've just been nicer anyway!!

I'm sure cree's are fine, though the interior lights are already LEDs and from the car's handbook, it suggests they cannot be replaced (along with the number plate lamp)... There's probably a way but I doubt it'd be easy!

With regards to the ambient lighting, it's not an option on the Zetec or Zetec S, only Titanium and above. Essentially, there are LEDs around the interior which glow and warmly light up the inside at night. After plugging my Zetec into a laptop, we discovered the ambient lights around the sunglasses holder could be activated... so the wiring and bulbs are in place already ;)

One of the hardest decisions of my life (not literally... but it was a factor) was going for the style of the Zetec-S over the additional functionality of the Titanium... and the ambien lighting was a tough thing to give up!

I don't even have a sunglasses holder in mine! Come to think fo it... maybe that's why you've got the LED interior light? Isn't that part of a premium set up up top??

p.s. I have a laptop... where the hell do i plug it in to unlock the hidden goodies???? lol

haha tell me about that decision! The gadgets on the titanium was definitely tempting, and i guess made the car better value for money....but i just couldnt live without the styling! Even with the 18" wheels option, the grey plastic doesnt do it for me at all.

I did miss the ability to just plug in the missing lights like i could with my last fiesta...but i've managed without (just haha) :D

Very strange that I have LEDs in my Zetec, and you only have standard bulbs in the Zetec S which in theory should come with more extras... having said that, the Fiesta Zetec S comes with less as standard than the Zetec! My car is an ex-demo as well so has been loaded up with extras, maybe originally there were some options which aren't now options?

You appear to have the premium console though, because the armrest and z-shape handbrake are part of that... put a picture up of your headlining where the interior light is and I'll check if it's the same as mine.

You are part way there - you also need the specialist cable, Ford software and a genious who won't balls your car up! ;)

Hi Dave some seriously nice stuff on that site , for the Mk3 , do they sell direct , and what about a price list?

Question lol , why do all the picture's of the Focus showing the products have Dinky little wheels on them , some of them only look 15" at the most.

As I am having the longest 'engagement' in history with my new Focus(mk2.5), I havn't got round to ordering stuff yet.Big Deposit down to secure car but STILL not collected/paid in full.

When I have the beast I will be contacting the shop via Thai Girlfriend (Duel pricing exists here bigtime if you not one of the natives! LOL) and I will report back to hopefully help other members.

PRICES> are marked on the site in Thai Baht and its about 50 to the pound right now. Parts seem very cheap even to me and my shopping list is growing daily in anticipation of being a fellow owner!!

Dinky Wheels> Good spot that!!! LOL! Wild/OTT and tacky mods are rife here together with the most hidious colour schemes. Huge chrome wheels abound but I think as the Mk3 is still hot news as a very new model, people have not got round to any major changes yet like wheels. As safety standards don't exist here there are millions of very cheap pretty looking wheels for sale in every road you drive down. Thai drivers are not into speed mods but seriously love thier in-car Sound/DVD systems together with crazy led alluminated speaker systems.

I hope my Burnt Orange 2 litre Sport+ is still waiting for its impatient driver! : (

Yes the roads can be bad here. They havn't yet invented a road repair that lasts longer than 3 months.

As soon as I get the car, you will see the pics. I am just starting a new job in a Uni as an Engrish Teacher so any grandiose ideas of an export business is not on my mind. If, however i can help others, I will do :) . DHL is used regularly here and I do still have a UK bank account (I used to be a Bank Manager) so who knows, I may be able to sort something out.

Its funny, I have never seen or heard anyone over here, doing the duel reversing light mod which to me makes great sense seeing as fog,mist,ice and snow is non-existant. Its winter right now and 82c most days until it gets hot! LOL!!!

We do however have to cope with !Removed! Water Buffalo's and Elephants walking out infront of you!
