Hassen
Hi guys. I just picked up my 2010 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 TDCI today and very happy with the way she drives. I had a Blaupunkt GTA 470 Amplifier, an Edge 12'' subwoofer and Pioneer TS-Q131C (Speakers and twitters Renault fit) in my old car that I would like to transfer to my car. I was just wondering if there was a way to make this work with the factory Ford Headunit (6000 CD with Aux) to be able to plug in my mp3 player or would I need a new headunit. If I would need a new headunit, this is one that I was considering. If anyone has any experience with it or could recommend a nice affordable touchscreen double din headunit with bluetooth, sub out and aux input, I would greatly appreciate it. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 Thanks Hassen
FOCA
The headunit you are considering is modern and high spec, but it requires a seperate module for the sat-nav, at extra cost you can hook up a reversing camera to most of these units the ones with the sat-nav built-in/ supplied are more expensive but probably better value As long as the Speakers actually fit it is possible for you to fit your speakers/ amp/ sub to your car/ CD6000 The 6000 is quite an old unit, but it works well and the sound quality is good and the remote works, you can get a Parrot bluetooth hands-free kit for it, and it is possible to fit an aux-in (mp3 player etc) via a device called a modulator The 6000 will never be as "trendy" as a modern double-din touch-screen head unit, but is not as attractive to theives either! Thanks for the info. I found out that there is already an Aux port in the glovebox built in but it's quite annoying as I can't close the glovebox and control the mp3 player from the Headunit. But, it is managable with the glovebox open and the mp3 player in the centre console. I think the fancy headunit will have to wait due to lack of funds and I will just try to hook up the sub/amp/speaker combo to the car and make it work with the Ford headunit. Btw, found out as well that it has bluetooth built in, which was surprisingly easy to connect to my phone(HTC One S works) and the call quality is good. It's possible to connect 6 phones in total according to the manual, but will just try to connect my personal and work phone for the moment. Sadly due to lack of time, I will be bringing the car to my audio guy here in Tullamore, Ireland and get him to wire the whole thing up even though I would love to get my hands dirty and sort it out myself. Saves me the time opening it all up and then being faced with the rivets as I wouldn't be able to sort that out now. Will be bringing the car to the audio guy here and hope he can sort it all out and install the Speakers. Fingers crossed.

Also, how did you find the new remap and exhaust from Souhan? I am planning to get the same done in the next year and wondering how much did it all cost for the remap and exhaust if you don't mind me asking. Thanks For best value for money mate your best to buy as much as possible online. If you don't have a credit card you can get an O2 visa card for 10euro then top it up as you need, then join eBay and paypal. Here are some links to RCA adaptor kits. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/High-Level-Speaker-Low-Level-RCA-Converter-2-Channel-/260469204287 http://www.crunchusa.net/mx2.html And thanks for comments regarding the focus. Its been a long project of mine, remap cost 280 euro and DPF back T304 stainless 2.5" duplex from piper exhaust essex cost 650euro including P&P fitting cost 50euro and my stock exhaust. So all in cost 980euro to bring the car from 90bhp-120bhp with no smoke and still 62mpg Took a lot of saving though. And if my job lasts I'll be looking to purchase some 18/19" ST snow flake style alloys next year some time. Has taken two years to come this far no drinking or smoking just saving and modding. Absolutely agree with you there Lenny on buying as much as possible online. I just ordered the Green Cotton air filter and expecting it next week after reading your post and fitting guide about it. I was going to get the K&N version as I had one in my old petrol car and it made a marked improvement on fuel consumption, but after reading your post, I changed my mind. Hoping to remap and get a nicer flowing single exhaust once the air filter is in the car from Souhan or ChippedIre. Anyone has any experience with either? Hassen
And yea, it's nice having a great little nippy car with great mpg. I think the snowflake wheels will look ace. Found this place for replica alloys if it is of any use: http://www.alloy-wheels.ie/ford.html Does the remap make a big difference in the power delivery? At the moment, there is a big surge in power when the turbo kicks in. This is my first turbo diesel car and still getting used to feathering the throttle unlike the way I drove in the old petrol car lol

And regarding experience in dealing with tuning company's in ireland; Their are only around 17-20 irish members on the forum including me and you mate, and to date I'm the only remapped member of the forum from the emerald isle lol But I've been to P.J Souhans and I highly recommend their services to others, family run business with a passion for their work. They are a certified Magnaflow exhaust specialist so quality is assured, and as you can see in the background of the image below they have a full range of stainless steel piping, cats and tips in stock. Also appointment is essentail so log on to souhan.ie to contact them and discuss cost and times etc. The ideal job would be to get the exhaust and remap done on the same day, because the way they remap is: Scan your ecu, copy it and email it to Germany then wait for them to configure the remap and email back to them for upload to the ecu. So it would be two birds one stone if the exhaust was beiñg built while the ecu file was being remapped. Regarding the current lack of power then the sudden surge; I too had that as standard but the Green COTTON filter, 2.5" bore exhaust and remap all played their part in reducing the surge to a smooth incline of performance with 2-3 seconds of lag in 1st Gear only then smooth power with 90kmh in 3rd @ 3,000Rpm and 140kmh in 4th @3,200Rpm then limited to 185kmh in 5th and still 56-62MPG depending how you drive it. Now regarding your MP3 player cable and the Glovebox. Open the glovebox, Plug in cable to Aux socket, Put rest of cable through the gap in between glovebox hinges, Close Glovebox, Connect MP3. Works well and looks much better, while still allowing full control. Finally thanks for the link to the alloys, But they are Mk2 ST and I'm after some Mk2.5 ST alloys, they have extra angles to catch the light and look better in my opinion here they are in a crazy 20 inch:
Lenny
Also when fitting your amplifer, Their is already a constant 12v positive feed on the drivers side of boot behind the panel. See my guide on fitting a 12v socket in the boot for images of the cable and reference. Also for best sound quality I recommend you run the blue amp to stereo cable on the drivers side to the stereo and run the audio cable on the passenger side to the stereo. This will prevent any unwanted Hum or pop on the sub. I used to like watts of Bass too lol Not anymore though, Traded those baby's for two of these in the back instead lol :
Preee
Regarding the AUX , what i did to my Nephew's was removed glove box , and then removed the AUX , then fed his cable through a hole in the back of his Ashtray chubby hole and connected it to the AUX , that way he could close the garage door on the Ash tray and hide his cable. Will update you on how I find it compared to the K&N filter. Definitely thinking of the remap now after the airfilter is in and also trying to convince my father in law to get his 90bhp Ford Focus Style to be remapped. Any suggestions about exhausts? I don't have a big budget and want to keep the spending to a minimum as most of my budget went towards purchasing the car. I know nothing about them as in what diameter the tubes need to be to fit etc. I found this online and quite like it. Would it fit my Focus without making it ridiculously loud and still getting a better performance than the standard exhaust with the remap and the air filter? Will probably get it done at Souhan after your recommendation http://www.adverts.ie/car-parts-accessories/sport-exhaust/2147277 Thanks for the tip about the Aux. Did it and worked a treat. Looks much better than driving around with the glovebox open and stuff falling out at every bend lol And, damn those 20 inch wheels look slick. Unsure about ride quality with such big wheels and myself prefer having 17 inch wheels with the added comfort on the lovely irish roads we have around the midlands lol

Will just have to run cables to the headunit then and keep them separate on each side of the car. I am not a big bass head but I do love a decent sound system as I drive a fair bit to work and at work and it keeps me sane on the roads. Plus, the only time I get to crank the music is when I am driving alone as I have one of those baby seats myself in the back for my lil one. Stoney871
The aux cable through the ashtray area worksa treat. I did it myself when I fitted my tray a few months back. Unsure about ride quality with such big wheels and myself prefer having 17 inch wheels with the added comfort on the lovely irish roads we have around the midlands lol No problem Regarding the back box it won't fit your focus because it is designed to replace the rear silencer back box of the car. And the design of the focus exhaust system has the back box fitted in front of the rear axle with a pipe leading over the rear axle to the underside of the rear bumper. Diesel engines don't get loud and raspy. They get low and grumble like an impreza A 2.5" internal bore pipe is recommended for performance. And a single exit system would be around 300-450 from souhans depending on what grade of steel you choose but contact Darren at souhans to confirm pricing. You would require a 2.5" pipe with flange to bolt on to the flexi pipe that leads from the dpf A high flow back box Then another 3feet of 2.5" pipe welded to the back box Followed by a tip of your choice. It will take around a month for the DPF to clear allowing the higher pressure to flow and sound. Here is what mine now sounds like: No sound difference when driving at any consistant speeds. Just growels when you accelerate to overtake or pick up speed. But no petrol exhaust parts are compatable with diesel. The silincers are a completly different design inside to achieve the results. Regarding the 20" alloys mate I won't be fitting them neither for the same reason with the roads. Best leave them on jeeps but would look bad !Removed! lol Maybe fit 19" at the most next summer. Thanks for all the info about the exhausts Lenny. I will get in touch with Souhan and see what they can do for me. Maybe they might be able to do a deal for a remap and high flow exhaust together. Also, I received the Green Cotton filter in the post today. Was so excited to fit it that I went out in the cold at 9pm, armed with a head mounted torch from my wife's camping gear and your tutorial to get it fitted. Not much of a problem with the right tools and 20 min total tinkering time. Thanks a million for the guide as it saved me all the trouble of finding bolts and how to get the filter in. My paper filter inside the box was bent as well. I wonder what the Ford dealers do to bend them! Didn't get a chance to drive the car yet but I am sure it will be responsive and better. The filter will pay for itself by saving me more diesel as was the case with the K&N filter in my old car. I also bought another one for my father in law's Focus 1.6TDCI as a christmas gift. Will have to get him to drive my car after the remap :D

To remove the socket from the glove box you have to destroy it as the socket locks together and is impossible to remove without a bit of butchering. 2. If you remove just the cable from the back of the socket there is only a block connector which is a faff to cut off and rewire. Far better to just pull the radio forward, unplug the original aux c-block and tape it out of the way then replace it with the one i have linked to. The existing aux connector is where the green one is in the photo.

Thanks for that as it's exactly what I wanted to do with a new cable that I can re-route anywhere I wanted as I find the cable dangling from the glovebox a bit annoying. I reckon it's something I can tackle myself by taking off the trim, bringing the stereo forward and hooking up the new cable. Cheers
Stoney871
Just make sure you have your radio code before removal. Seeing as your car is a 2.5 you don't have the 12v socket hole in the cubbyhole, but you can loosen the heater dials and the demister switch panels a bit on one side and slide the cable down behind them to come out just above the cubby. That's what I was thinking of doing without the need to drill holes and butcher the dash. My car was an English import into Ireland and as a result, I don't think I have the radio code. Would it be available through a normal Ford Dealer or what would be the proper way to get the radio code for my unit. Thanks
