More power from the 1.8 tdci

I am looking for a cheap way to get some more power from the focus 1.8 tdci and have seen a number of in line boxes that install between the fuel pressure sensor and the ECU. There are a number of them for sale on the famous auction site but is there a better option without spending more than £100?

Simple answer is no they dont work and no theres no way under £100. A decent chip will cost £400-£500. You can put a cone filter on but you wont get astonishing results. A chip will give about 35bhp increase and 70nM torque.

Thanks SieraYankee, I take it the air filter is a slight restriction then? Is there a site you could recommend that do the chip upgrades?

Thanks. Simon

Hi, i agree with sierrayankee, i know of 2 bmw 330 diesels locally via bmw specialist that have had boxes fitted and have both been eBay items, and yep both boxes have gone bang... both now remapped. hope that helps..
