the light will come on but on for about 20 seconds and go off

i have taken out the relay and put a wire in there and the screen works the light on the switch comes on and it works no problem i have brought a new relay

i have no blown fuses

i have got error code from the gem b2256 front windscreen heater relay short to ground

i need a ford wire diagram for the heated screen with ground placements if any one can give them to me that would be great

any ideas where the problem may be

have you removed the scuttle panel to check the wire s of both sides of screen are ok or intermittingly shorting causeing a fault

good call from Peter there, thats the best place to start, and also try swapping the fuse with a like for like in the fusebox. see if the fault follows or stays...

Hi

Thanks for the input

I shall have a look at the scuttle panel I was going to pull a fuse to each side and see what side it might be

It's just a case of elimination

Thanks I shall try and update how I get on with it

Thanks John

Hi Johnm

When you drive do you have a battery light appear on the dash? if so its possible the alternator is faulty.

If you get no lights, then it could be a poor charging battery, is it one you have bought, or is there a chance its the original battery? - can you confirm that the battery terminals are secured down, and where they grip around the electrodes of the battery, that you have about 0.5 - 1mm of electrode poking up from the top of the cablings...
