Marty1198
Had an annoying vibration at the front end of my car and a knock when starting up and turning off. Been getting steadily worse as the week went on. So I took to my local mechanic for a look see and after a few preliminary questions he gave me the usual options which included possible clutch problems. Oh dear! However, after putting the car on the ramps and further inspection, he concluded that the most likely problem was a gearbox mounting being goosed. "Fix it then" says me. He did. Now £100 lighter and problem solved. Apparently only Ford make the mounting. Making it that bit more expensive. And an MOT and service is also due at the end of the month too. Expensive month all round!!!!
FOCA
They are bad for going, it has to resist the torque reaction and isolate he vibratoin/ noise of the engine Some fill the "rubber" bit up with tigerseal as a "temporary" measure Its not hard to do yourself, if you can get the car high enough its just 2 bolts - my mount gas been "gone" a long time and i have the replacement one (bought off eBay for £20) to put on - when i get "round to it" :)
Marty1198
I don't have the space or the equipment to do it myself unfortunately. I'm just happy it was only a mounting and not clutch related. This time!!!
