ian dean Posted February 22, 2013 Share Posted February 22, 2013 hi im after some help i have a 57 plate focus 1.8 petrol it is burning oil. i did a comprsssion test and all was fine apart from the cylinder 1 which when i did the test was 90 and the rest 180 i have bben told buh the garage it was the piston rings just wondering if it was would you still get compression juaf a bit curious as the garage i took my car to heavly overpriced the car parts thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

stef123 Posted February 22, 2013 Share Posted February 22, 2013 well if the head is removed, remove the sump also and undo the conrod bearing caps from the crank but remember to keep the bolts, caps and bearings in order. you will also want to inspect the bearing shells too, replace them if required. you might also need to hone the bore of the cylinder with low compression Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
