drivs Posted February 25, 2013 Share Posted February 25, 2013 just bought a st focus 2003 model,drove home then went back out to start it but it would not sounded like it was out of petrol but the gauge was just under quarter of a tank,put some petrol in and it started straight away,the gauge went up when i put some in,so my question is, are the fuel gauges known to be faulty,any help thanks ste Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jeebowhite Posted February 26, 2013 Share Posted February 26, 2013 Faulty Fuel Sender Unit. Sounds like the float isnt dropping all the way down, instead catching at a quarter full and sitting there. Therefore sending the wrong signal. You could probably replace it easy enough... If your brave, move the rear seats, and you will see the fuel tank access, get in there and jiggle vigorously the FSU and try again...
