jeffnat68
Hi all.Just found out that the metal intercooler pipe has very fine cracks or splits around the bracket that holds it to engine.A small amount of oil is dripping down pipe onto plastic engine cover.Any one have any advice on how to fix this?I was gonna remove pipe clean of all the oil etc and then cover the cracks with some two part liquid metal arradite type adhesive and see if that will work. The splits are very small so hoping it shoud not take much to seal em.What would the effects of the splits do to the car?I still have a good boost from the turbo. But some hesitation in certain gears at certain revs.Thanx in advance for advice on this... :)
Preee
I would change the pipe rather than try and fix it , a quick repair is never going to last. i think oil residue will be from the turbo.
jeffnat68
Any ideas on how much the pipe will be?
salsheikh
have a look on eBay for a replacement but also check at ford as now and again they surprise you with their prices. the cracks may lose a bit of boost and this may cause the hesitation

jeffnat68
Nice one.Think I might as well get new pipe rather than try fixing it..
FOCA
I would change the pipe rather than try and fix it , a quick repair is never going to last. i think oil residue will be from the turbo. oil residue may be from the turbo oil seals, it can also be from the engine crankase breather, the oil can condense on the metal, the EGR can also deposit (depending where the egr/ boost pipe is) gunk that mixes with the oil
