Update:

When the ZetecS kit was being sprayed and fitted to the car i had supplied two bottles of grey tiger seal to use when fitting the front lip etc.

However the two bottles of grey tiger seal were returned to me when collecting the car, I was told by the body shop they had used somthing better, although i know myself nothing is better than tiger seal

I investigated the true reason why it wasn't used and was told they didn't have big enough clamps to hold the lip in place if using tiger seal so instead they used 3M double sided tape to bond the front lip,

The tape has held for quite some time now, but through using chemicals to remove tar and bugs during high pressure car washes the bond on the 3M tape has began to deteriorate,

Notice the separation on the drivers side

IMG_20140519_101632_zpsnegxekh_edit_1400

It only needs some tiger seal instead of the 3M tape,

I'm considering a change,

Well at present I'm financially tied up in preparation for our wedding in August but before Christmas i plan to change the front end from ZetecS to the 1 piece ST bumper have tge washer jet holes smoothed over and attach a TripleRcomposites ST front splitter perhaps have the ST grills done in piano black aswell resulting in a one piece panel rather than sourcing a professional to bond the existing lip.

In doing this change ill lose:

Gloss black grills,

TripleRcomposites front splitter,

Drl fog surrounds,

ZetecS badge,

ZetecS front lip,

Front bumper,

I would like to sell it all as one,

Since the ZetecS is not available in Ireland i would like to keep it within the country as a rare piece but if anyone's interested let me know as it would speed up my exchange process,

Just thinking aloud here

Hi Lenny

What i'd like to know is what colour wires are rear door Speakers ? As i would like to add a subwoofer via rca low level line out converter . Do i just take feed from Speakers only or from rear door tweeters as well?

i will check the haynes manual and get back to you,

Splice speaker only,

Because the tweeter only does high's and vocals subs and 6" components do bass

LH rear speaker

grey/white - terminal C442/8 from rear of stereo

White/violet + terminal C442/4 from rear of stereo

RH rear speaker

Grey/white - terminal C442/5 from rear of stereo

White/violet + terminal C442/1 from rear of stereo

Both sets of cable are solid grey and solid white colours at rear of stereo however they change to there striped colours on the door card looms

For best results on bass id splice in to the 6" component on tge door card itself,

Because at that point the sound will have been split via the crossover box ensuring only the deep tones are sent to the 6" speaker,

This way you will be sure its only deep tones going to your sub,

Also dont forget about the 12v supply behind the drivers side boot panel,

Run that to the amp save yourself running a feed from the battery as its already factory fitted.

Image14485.jpg

Your amp will also have an ignition positive sensor feed,

This single cable generaly blue in colour needs to be spliced to a feed that becomes positive when the key is turned, just the same as the stereo does,

Splice in to the large orange cable on the rear of the heater control unit in the centre console

Cheers Lenny,

Its not actually an amp but Alpine swd 1600 underseat subwoofer.

As in pic. Also the wires from the sub.

My question is as you say i need 12v ign live feed .well , i have fitted illumenated genuine ford gear knob & it guides you to take feed from back of radio loom. Which illumenates gear knob when ign on,will this one be ok to take feed from for remote feed?

I'll paste a pic of the rca converters wires etc.

That looks cool. You will have to let us know how it sounds once you have it installed. Best of luck with the install :)

looks tidy,

Splicing it to the positive on the gear knob illumination would be ok mate, it doesnt actually draw power through that feed, it just sences for power,

When power is felt,

It tells the relay to allow power to flow from the battery to sub,

I think theres another 12v loom socket behind the garage door compartment you could splice to,

And you need a RCA convertor to give RCA sockets

then a 2M male to male RCA cable

When you refer to garage door do you mean cig lighter unit?

yes the socket in there use the loom from that,

Or the one in the arm rest,

Would save you running a feed directly from the battery

Cool. Didn't know that. My poor Zetec has/had components upfront and a set of cheapo Speakers at the back. Planning to get a set of Focal PS165 component Speakers soon for the front. Recently upgraded the sub to a JL Audio 10W0V3-4, which I must say is a great value for money. Massive improvement from the Vibe Slick 10 sub woofer. Highly recommended.

Update:

The focus is due its first NCT next week,

Its also due a service,

Booked in for two new front tyres tomorrow, however Avon Tyres don't make the ZZ3 anymore so ill be fitting the AVON ZV5 tomorrow morning instead,

Now regarding the service,

Well as some of you maybe already aware I've fallen out with my local ford dealer in April of last year due to them charging for jobs they didn't even have the equipment to carry the job out with, aswell as going back on there word in terms of quoted prices.

So instead of going to ford wranch cowboys,

I've decided to do an oil and filter change myself aswell as using Wynne's Engine Flush,

There are other mechanics more local than ford but i want to be sure the Wynne's flush is used on the service and used correctly, not left in the sump or vacuumed out like most garages remove oil these days through the filler cap using a pump instead of draining through the sump plug.

Anyways,

I logged on to Micksgarage.com entered the focus registration plate number,

And up came all available parts for my specific model,

IMG_20140611_165943_zpstdged3la.jpg

I purchased

Bosh Wiper Blades,

oil Sump plug Seal (copper washer)

Bosh Oil Filter

IMG_20140611_165835_zpskliqqkcf.jpg

I had previously been to Halfords and purchased a can of Wynne's engine flush for diesels,

IMG_20140511_101944_zpszauv4ri_edit_1399

Remaining items on the shopping list are:

Castrol Edge 5W-30 (need to confirm correct grade)

27MM Wrench Socket (to remove filter housing)

A trip to Halfords on Sunday will take the socket off the list,

http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_206939_langId_-1_categoryId_212616

Micksgarage also supply Castrol oil but its slightly cheaper in Tesco plus you get the Club card points back too.

http://www.tesco.com/direct/edge-fully-synthetic-5w30-engine-oil-4-litre/136-8860.prd

I'm working nights this week and busy this Sunday,

But i will be creating a guide oil & filter change with Wynne's engine flush 1.6TDCi in the coming weeks perhaps Sunday 22nd June 2014

VickiC has changed the Wiper Blades by herself today following the Guide here:

Nicely done Vicki. I was very lazy and asked the guy at the Ford Dealership to change the Wiper Blades :P

Btw Lenny, if you need work done by a Ford Garage, I highly recommend Colton Motors in Mullingar. I know it might be a bit far, but I have had zero issues with them so far. Very fair and good quality of work.

thanks hassen,

Ford wanted 32.00euro for a rear wiper on that service i had,

Bought a bosh for 12.00 euro fitted myself at the time,

Cant see me needing ford dealer for service in the future, only thing left is the DMF if it goes ill fit an SMF instead so all good,
