Heated Windscreen 2007 Tdci ??

Hi,

Can anyone give me a time it should take for the front screen to clear frost in a morning?

I havent really used the screen defrost since I brought it and have generally used the MAX switch/ setting on the heater.

I turned the ignition on this morning and both front and back screen defrost buttons lit up so I decided to let them do their worst instead of cancelling them and using the max setting.

I sat and waited for approx 2 minutes and nothing was happening, is this normal and should I have waited longer?

I switched the MAX heater setting on and it cleared in a minute or so.

My missis's old x reg focus cleared the screen in less than a minute so I am either doing something wrong or I have a fault???

cheers.

The built in de-misters on my '03 take about 1-2 mins MAX.

Obviously check the fuses first, but I'd put money on you having a fault.

The windscreen has multiplugs at either side (one for each half of the screen), and they're prone to corrosion and consequent failure. The light on the switch will still work when you press it, but nothing else will happen.

Now for the bad news - in most cases you'll have to either live with it, or replace the entire screen, and your insurance company won't cover it as the screen itself is not damaged (I assume).

I had the same fault with mine when I first bought it. Evans Halshaw advised me to chuck a brick through it and go through the insurance (which I didn't do, and I don't recommend you do either). They eventually replaced it free of charge after I exercised my right to a full refund of four and a half grand.

Thanks for the info!

Unbelievable!! I hit a pothole coming home today and and my screen has cracked from the bottom running approximately 8 inches up....state of our roads!

:)
