scousa
Hi I'm new to the forum and have recently picked up a 2009 zetec s 1.6. First thing I notice was the bluetooth, aux and USB aren't working. I have done a bit of research before posting and have tried disconnecting the module an fuses to no avail. I haven't yet tried disconnecting the battery as I don't have the radio code. However since bluetooth USB modules are like hens teeth is there anyway of repairing the module rather than replacing it. Does anyone know if its a hardware or software failure? sambooka
There is no radio code and you could always try the software update from the for website
scousa
Ooh right ok. How do I do the software update if the USB slot doesn't acknowledge any devices?
Stoney871
It does sound like the module needs resetting. Disconnect the battery for 10 to 20 minutes and see how you go.

iNath
Did you try unplugging the USB cable from the module (the smaller black wire as opposed to the massive plug) Can you plug a phone in to see if it gets any power?
scousa
Yeah disconnected both cables from the module, I will try something else in the USB slot tomorrow
scousa
left the battery and module disconnected overnight and still nothing, i also tried to charge my phone via the USB but that still doesn't work
iNath
Ok so it's either the module or the cable that's at fault Next cheapest option is to buy something like this - unplug USB from module and replace it with this (for testing purposes) If it works, your original cable is no good - if it still doesn't work your module has failed. scousa
Well since the bluetooth isn't working I imagine the module is at fault? I have a spare cable like that somewhere so I'll give it a try and report back

scousa
Ahh fair enough, I'm gutted cause a USB bluetooth module went for £50 on eBay the other day but I weren't sure if that was my problem Is there no way of fixing the module rather than replacing it? iNath
Not that I know of, never opened one up to be fair though. I imagine it's all circuit boards inside so not much the average Joe can do.
scousa
hmm i suppose but there must be a simple reason why so many of the modules fail can i plug any usb & bluetooth module into my car?
scousa
can i use a usb bluetooth module from any ford?
neps
Be aware that there are two types of modules, only bluetooth and Bluetooth+USB. There are also different types of USB connectors aswell. You would be better off buying a module with the same partnumber as the old one. They use the same modules on any Ford.
