Spring Clip On Wheel Stud ?

just removed my rear wheels so i can start prepping and painting drums and have noticed a spingclip/washer on 1 of the 5 wheel studs on both wheels (also got a green pen mark around each one as well) anyone got idea what they are for ? also going to be changing my wheels this week form 16"factory fitted to 18"s do i need to remove the springclip/washer or leave them as they are ?

strange never seen that before i have no suggestons as i cant fathom the reason for it

Can't see any reason for it on a brake drum. They are used on disc brakes sometimes to hold the disc right to the hub although there isn't really any need

Its there for the same reason as when used on a disc, like stated, its not really necessary, but just a precaution.

I can see the pic now that I'm on the computer, as Mike says above it is indeed doing the same as it would on a disc setup as those are sealed type bearings and therefor the drum isn't held in with the hub nut.

There should be no problem to remove it

lol just saying mate,

Drums are looking good, I need to get out and give mine a fresh coat too,

Last done them in 2010 with hammerite smooth finish silver.

drums finished and new wheels put on the rear just took a quick pic while im working on the front end waiting for the calipers to dry ! will put some proper pics up tmorrow when car is washed and waxed

Lookin good mate,

The colours chosen have matched togeather nicely, some lowering springs and camber adjustment bolts would finish it off nicely in both terms of appearance and handling helping you get the most from your newly fitted 18's
