vince_13
hey guys took advantage of the nice weather for once today and decided to remove the black door strips from the car, we used WD40 which worked excellent, however whilst removing the rear smaller strip bout 3 inches in i pulled it back and noticed a hole in the door where a locating pin on the mould sits into decided to take it to body shop to have them removed and the holes patched, but he thinks they will look better colour coded has anyone else found the holes behind the bump strips on their mk6? DanGersFord
Yesbthe holes are there to help locate the strips. As the body shop said why not just colour code them?
vince_13
imo i think the door looks cleaner and nicer without them but my gf likes them colour coded, having the boot handle done at the same time

Stoney871
How hard is it to remove the door strips without nackering them? Thought about buying a primered set but if they're reusable then I might consider giving that a go.
vince_13
the thinner moulds (same shape across the door) i don't think are reusable, when we pulled our off today we weren't able to stick it back down, what i would suggest is buy the ST door strips (different shape) these fit in the holes in door (behind the old strips) but will need some adhesive, that would of been the next option if weren't going to colour code the existing strips

I think in the focus theres metal strips through them aswel so youve got to ve careful not to bend them too much.

Stoney871
Might still consider a new set primed and ready to spray then. Should save a lot of rubbing down and the risk of ruining the original set and leaving the car stripless until I could get replacements. There are some primed ones on eBay, not sure if they come with the clips though, they may only have tape on them.
