Tyre Size Question

OK this has probably been thrashed to death but I'll ask anyway:

I have 195/45/16R 84V tyres on my car currently, If I was to swap them to 195/50/16R 84V would that create a significant difference in the speedometer measurement?

Think it drops it out of the legal limit, so you'd end up needing a recalibration.

It's a difference of 3.5% (the max recommended is 2.5%) and when your speedo says 60 you'll actually be doing 62.

Booga, thought it would be an easy change to ease out the round bumps...pants.

you can buy my 15" multispoke zetec alloys if you want :P ? They run a 50/55 i believe. Still plenty of tread on them too so no need to buy new tyres lol.

As Nath says you will need to re-calibrate. This site helps you find tyres that would fit within the 2.5% change

Your only real option would be 205/45/16, provided they'll fit on the rims.

They should fit fine, but no larger than that really.
