Hi

i can get a good deal with some Shell oil brands (Shell Helix, Synthetic Ultra 5w-40) Is this oil ok for the car because i think it should be 5w-30. Does it make a big difference!!! or seeing Shell oils are great quilty it should be fine

Thanks for any info

BR

I would recommend just using 5W 30 , personally i stick to manufacturers guidelines and not the individual oil producers as the car manufacturer knows more about the cars requirements. For example the 5W indicates how easily the oil can be pumped in low temps thats why the W stands for winter. The second number refers to the oils viscosity at 100 degrees this is around normal operating temp of an operating engine which is most critical as this is where the engine is doing all the work !

Make your own decision but i know what i would do !
