Hi guys, which bulbs do you recommend?

I like the light that looks very white and it bright!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261124560871?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

or

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300652132652?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Both seem legal and claim to be good bulbs, but which will be the best ?

I've used night breakers and I like them, however for a fiver for two dipped beams and two sidelights the second set looks good. At less than 20 quid for both, why not try a set of each?

I bought these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-SUPER-WHITE-H4-Headlight-Bulbs-472-60-55W-12V-/130500453133?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e626ee30d

But they have a feint green look to them, not white- that's why I'm looking at different ones!

instead of osram nightbreaker, go for osram cool blue intense. they are whiter than night breaker

Personally if you want a proper White light the only halogen bulbs that will give you the colour you want is either Philips diamond vision or osram hyper blue both of which arent strictly road legal but I've got the Philips DV fitted and never got so much as a dodgy look off the police. From someone whos spent a small fortune on various bulbs nothing comes anywhere close to giving a decent white colour thats road legal

If your gonna get bulbs go for the named brands, like philips, osram, ring or maybe Halfords own.

The cheap eBay stuff doesnt seem to last long, rarely gives the light output it claims and, in most cases, ends up costing more when you have to keep replacing them.

agree with danny boy ;) on this one

i've currently got osram cool blue intense in my headlights and they light outputs great

but i think i'm gonna give the cool blue hypers a go soon just for the extra whiteness

i'd only go for names like osram, philips are good but i've never tried em myself yet. halfrauds ultra brilliance are good for brightness but arent that white, bit overpriced too when you get get osrams for 12quid the pair

heard bad tings about ring xenon ultima 120 or whatever they are, heard some stories of em being rather yellow and going sooner than expected

Any bulbs that burn brighter will have shorter lifespans, I think the Nightbreaker+ dipped bulbs I have in at the moment had a sticker on the box showing roughly 30% less lifespan.

IMHO it's a good compromise.

clive what is your opinion on the cool blue hypers?

am i likely to actually get pulled for em?

At 5000 kelvin they are definitely not road legal and I would be remiss if I did not remind you of this fact, but in all honesty unless you go around dazzling people with them you will be ok, just don't take my word as endorsement mate. ;)

The chances of blinding someone with 5000k halogen bulbs is less likely than doing it with standard yellow halogen bulbs. In order to get the white 5000k colour temperature there is a thicker blue coating which actually reduces the amout of light somewhat. It is recommended that you get your headlight alignment checked pperiodically to prevent you from dazzling others

Ive got the ring ultima 120%. They are bright but hey give off a yellow light, makes my white led side lights look odd.

Thanks for all the options, I think I will try the osram nightbreaker plus bulbs now as the xenon ones I got from eBay look green! If I do not like the osrams I may try one of the 'illegal' as they say bulbs, but I would obviously like to keep it legal for peace of mind if not anything else.

Just a warning to any others not to get them, it doesn't come across well in the pics but I am sure you can see some green here, the listing to avoid is this one:

As said, less life but better visibility is a no brainer, you can't argue over a few pounds a year for better visibility. I say as far as Osram are concerned, cool blue intense (or the not so strictly road legal cool blue hyper) for dipped, nightbreakers for the main beams.

Or like me, HID's that nobody likes :P

I bought phillips diamond vision bulbs and they have no tinge of yellow to them but are also no legal but you couldn't tell just by looking at them I looked at the nightbreakers and they were too yellow for me

Cool blue intense are blue tinted so don't come out yellow.

I wish I had found this thread earlier!

I put a 501 6xLED in my sidelights and was thoroughly impressed by the brightness and colour! (Pure white!)

I had the super white xenons on order and hoped these would have a similar effect for my main lights. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I didn't like the greeny/turquoise tint they gave so I have now sent them back.

I've got the Osram Cool Blue Intense on order now and hopefully these will be much better i.e. whiter. I would have got the Hypers but I decided to stay in the law for starters. I also have a similar bulb for the fogs so hopefully I will be all white soon! Cheers lads, Harvey.
