Focus 55 Reg Lose Power On Uphill

I recently got my first diesel car, a Ford Focus (55 reg) 1.6 TDCi with 110bhp. While driving uphill from stop, the rpm of the engine wont increase beyond 3000rpm on 2nd or 3rd gear and the speed hardly makes it to 40mph putting me in embarrasing situations quite a few times.

Also on motorway driving, the car seems to do quite well on flats and downhills. But uphill the speed reduces from say 80mph to 50-60 mph which is again quite frustrating. Is it quite generic for other users of this model of Focus or is it maybe because of some issue in my car?

Regards.

Sounds like you have a turbo issue I am afraid.

looks like you have lost boost pressure or have a fuelling problem.

I would say boost pressure, you will find a loose hose clip or split hose or even a cracked intercooler. you have to check all your hoses and connections. the usual point is where the turbo fits onto the pipe it has an o ring this usually goes at this point. there may be a tell tail sign where as if its blowing anywhere it may be wet with an oily residue
