My glow plug controller is dust and the engine seams to be in limp mode, I'm waiting for the part to arrive in the garage but is it okay to continue driving in limp mode now?

I wouldnt say so. Could cause further damage.

Saying that anyone who comments or the forum cannot responsibility for any damage caused if you do (just a little disclaimer) lol

True, I think the glow plugs may be used while the car is driving to help reduce emissions, how much does glow plug controllers retail at I wonder

Im sure the glow plugs are controlled by the ecu... Maybe worth checking the glow plugs again and possibly the relay

We checked them and only 6v reaching the glow plugs, the controller must be failing to provide the full power to the plugs

I am going to argue the balance.. I have driven to my dealer who was a mile away in limp home mode. Limp home mode, is the means for the car to get you home, but at a reduced output that will cause the minimal amount of damage possible. Therefore (whilst I cannot accept responsibility for any result of your vehicle) if you are round the corner, and being threatened with a £200 bill for the lift, or you can drive it down the road in limp home mode, there is no reason you couldnt drive it, but make an informed decision - understanding that ultimately the risk is yours.

Given thought that limp home is active and that the ending isnt refusing to start with all sorts of "engine, transmission, system failure" lights flashing all over the place, I cant see it destroying your car.

Remember... Your choice!

Same engine, same age, same problem....

Is this a common fault

I read something before about how the harness can be affected by water ingress, but nothing in particular otherwise.
