Rug Doctor Review Cleaning Car Interior

Hi all,

I've been on the phone to RugDoctor in the uk,

I've paid 32.99 euro for 48hrs rental of a rug doctor machine as seen on mightycarmods

The rug doctor is available to rent from your local Tesco store,

All you do is call 1800804068 from Ireland,

Given your address and they will tell you where your local distributer is located,

Choose weather you wish to rent for 24 or 48 hours

Choose a time you wish the rental duration t start from,

Pay via laser or debit card over the phone,

They then provide you with the locker number to collect from,

Followed by the locker code to allow you access to collect the unit,

You then choose your detergent for example upolstry cleaner,

And pay for it in the shop at the till,

You then bring the unit home for use,

I plan to firstly clean the Levin BZR interior,

I'll post images of before and after,

The unit uses high pressure hot water, detergent and detergent to penetrate the fabric,

Followed by vaccum to extract the dirt,

Should be good results,

I'll later do the carpet on the stairs too.

Below is the video as seen by mightycarmds,

Give me the idea to try it myself instead of paying for a vallet plus I get to clean the stairs aswell,

Wouldn't get them done if paying for a vallet on the interior.

I've been to tesco and collected the Rug doctor aswell as purchasing a bottle of rug doctor upholstery cleaner and the essential bottle of anti-foam liquid,

Both together cost 12 euro but essential to operate the machine with results,

So here it is:

IMG_20130921_194436_zps39d87cd7.jpg

The electrical cable it actually very long at around 5 metres,

It can't be seen I full in the above image because its wrapped around the adjustable handle on the rear of the unit.

What's in the Bag ?

An envelope of terms&conditions and the hand held cleaning attachment for cleaning upholstery and various small items.

The length of the hoses on the attachment are quite long too at around 3 metres, very light too,

Making it easy to work with.

To use the handheld attachment,

You need to first unplug the standard base cleaner pipes and plug in the hand held instead,

As you can see in the image below,

The underside of the unit is designed for wheeling along carpet floors to cleaning.

This option is disconnected when using the hand held device.

IMG_20130921_200205_zpsd40da19f.jpg

So let's disconnect the feeds going to the base and plug in the hand held.

IMG_20130921_194519_zps73f011b0.jpg

Here are the feeds going down to the base,

Unplug both of these and connect hand held instead,

IMG_20130921_200905_zps09414d08.jpg

IMG_20130921_201204_zps135b2cc2.jpg

Now connected,

There is a black handle trigger,

This controls the dose of cleaning liquid being injected in to the upholstery,

If you don't pull the trigger you can vacuum the existing liquid that has been applied.

IMG_20130921_201518_zps5f0b04ad.jpg

Once you have connected the handheld unit,

Press the white switch to handheld on the top of the machine,

Otherwise water will leak in the floor

IMG_20130921_202650_zps0f6d3c57.jpg

Next step

Pour 50ml of anti-foam solution in to the collection tank,

Do not add water to the collection tank, just add anti-foam

IMG_20130921_201814_zpsd6a501bc.jpg

Next step,

pour in 500ml of upholstery cleaner in to the red base container,

IMG_20130921_202050_zpsad9ff617.jpg

Followed by measuring in a further 8 litres of warm NOT boiling hot water 馃槈

IMG_20130921_202351_zpsf13bf452.jpg

8 litres later 馃檪

IMG_20130921_202938_zpsc6a79a57.jpg

OK not a great picture this one,

But the section of rear seat on the left has just been done with the rug doctor,

Compared to the section on the right that hasent.

IMG_20130921_203219_zps4067ecb4.jpg

IMG_20130921_203504_zpsc2374159.jpg

Seems to have restored some fade in colour,

The seats feel softer too and smell pleasent, but not over powering like ferbreeze.

Here is how much dirt came out of that one back section of the rear seat...

IMG_20130921_203903_zps4ef99a50.jpg

Again then here

You can see the right side of the seat has been cleaned aswell as a small line across on the left side.

IMG_20130921_204149_zps33634948.jpg

Complete rear seat now done,

I stacked them on the kitchen radiator overnight to completely dry,

The rug doctor has excellent vacuum, and you can see the dirt lifting through the pours in the cloth,

But the seats remain slightly damp afterwards,

As result require some聽drying time.

IMG_20130921_204535_zps8cbb324b.jpg

Again,

Here is the dirt collected from the entire rear seat.

Quite a bit,

IMG_20130921_210547_zps2b0024a8.jpg

IMG_20130921_204757_zps0eadaccc.jpg

I emptied out the collection bucket prior to starting to clean the front passenger seat,

The white stain on the centre of the seat is talc powder from my daughters, sitting on the seat pretending to drive after bath time

IMG_20130922_082446_zps39a8c1a3.jpg

Here is the dirt collected from the front passenger seat only.

IMG_20130922_090005_zps2b28cbb2.jpg

Below is an image of the passenger seat after cleaning,

On the right hand side,

And on the left is the untouched drivers seat,

You can really see the difference its made

IMG_20130922_083350_zps6d9ba3ce.jpg

IMG_20130922_083653_zpsa8b26b39.jpg

Next I cleaned the door card on the right of the image below is the cleaned door card,

Compared to the uncleaned one on the left.

IMG_20130922_084001_zpsf6af57b7.jpg

Below image is both door cards now clean,

Just to prove it does make the difference.

IMG_20130922_084232_zps87ad4338.jpg

You can see the foam, pulling the dirt from the fabric,

By looking through the clear plastic cleaning head,

IMG_20130922_084556_zpsfa8ef4bf.jpg

All interior parts cleaned,

IMG_20130922_091807_zps526288dd.jpg

Overall

I'm very happy with the results,

I would recommend wearing ear plugs if possible though as it it quite noisy,

My back and legs are also akeing from being bent over for long periods cleaning the various sections,

I spent a total of 5 hours cleaning and recleaning each seat until the foam stayed white on the upholstery

Sounds good George,

I don't have carpet in the house except for the stairs,

So it wouldn't be worth my while purchasing one, I do highly recommend them though,

Steam cleaner is another great tool for cleaning the exhaust pipes and brake calipers on the car,

No need for any cleaning products and removes carbon is seconds, just dodge the vapours

I used the hand held device on the rug doctor to clean the interior across today and yesterday after work,

I've updated the first post with images and I've got more images of results on the front seats aswell as door cards,

I'll get them upload tomorrow and complete the post.

Good ole human slime!

Aswell as three different coloured pubes on the rear seat lol also found matching on the front passenger,

I'm no forensic but I reckon than means two one nighters and one long term or at least brought home afterwards

But what you find in the focus

 no chance of Vicki shedding too many,

But if I'm honest I found a couple of smarties and a kinder surprise egg wrapper,

The joys of being a father of two kids,

I've owned the focus from new and have had waterproof covers on almost since day one,

So I didn't bother using the rug doctor on it, the seats are like new under the covers.

its amazing how much dirt comes out. just wish the seat covers were easier to take off so that they could be put in the washing machine instead of the whole seat getting wet.

I agree Sail,

But in fairness the vacuum on the machine is much better than I expected,

So the moisture that it injects in, it sucks 95% of it back out,

The seats felt dry within 12 hours of cleaning,

Removable covers would be much easier though,

Straight in to the washing machine,

Speaking of which lol purchasing the third one of the year now,

third washer, not got warranties over there , i thought I was bad, washer every couple of years

well kind of off topic, but here we go

First was a Bosh lasted 8 months then got blocked,

Instead of waiting for me to get home and unblock the drain,

She opened the door and pulled the machine out by gripping the drum,

This action buckled the frame, resulting in the knock sensor preventing spin

Because the drum was/is off centre.

Warranty Void.

Second machine,

Beko, kindly donated by her brothers partner,

Whom was getting a new kitchen fitted at the time and was throwing out the practically new machine to replace with an integrated one that becomes covered by a unit door,

So it went well until during the week,

She tells me it won't drain,

So I got to it this morning,

Turned it on its side and steam cleaned the drain pipe,

Removed the pump and cleaned it all out, no blockage found.

I then put it all back together,

Switched it on

And.... it filled with water then stopped.

No rotation nothing,

I said "its not rotating now"

She says "it didn't the other day neither"

Lmao

She first told me it wouldn't drain,

So I assumed it was of course blocked,

She failed to tell me, that it doesn't spin, drain, or take in detergent.

It just fills with water.

Had I known the full story from the out-take then I wouldn't have gotten contaminated by steaming out the whole drain system on the !Removed! machine.

Half full half empty glass situation, in regards to; what it does and what it doesn't do

Looking good mate,

 yes you can do it another time,

But on terms of investment verses usage,

I've invested 45 euro and used it once,

I reckon you've used yours the same amount of times and invested over 300 euro,

Plus I store mine in tesco, which doesn't obstruct my day 2 day storage compartments ;)

My opinion exactly,

I even told her that I should have got with an ugly bird instead as she would try harder,

Because she would lack natural talent

Lenny I bought mine about 3 months ago and in that time I reckon its been used about 20-25 times mate, I got a new puppy and if you ever had one know at 7 weeks old they don't go to the toilet and flush after themselves lol, mistakes happen and even as they get older get sick like kids and puke. I looked into hiring one but looked at the dog and thought No got to buy one. got it on special from Argos paid about 拢160 with cleaning fluid and its the best thing Ive bought, all my carpets get cleaned about every 3 weeks and with the dogs in and out all the time the water is as dirty every-time so doing its job, as you don't have carpets or a puppy its not worth you buying one though. :P

But if you do get a puppy for the girls and fully carpet your house :D

I used a Rug Doctor when I left my flat. Still had half a bottle of carpet cleaner left, so I used it on the car mats and carpet. Also did the seats - carpet cleaner worked fine. No anti-foam needed.

I know it says that you should use the right product for your needs...but I figured it was worth a shot lol

Sounds good mate,

I tried the upholstery cleaner on the carpet and it wasn't foamy enough,

So it doesn't work using the upholstery cleaner on other things.

I did need to top up the anti-foam in the collection tank though.

Because the foam was blocking the induction filter at the top left side effecting the vacuum
