Welcome to Ford and the forum.

Looks like you will have some serious work coming up. Make sure you start a build thread and keep us updated with photo's of your progress.

Thanks, she runs well. I agree. Trying to find original ford parts is a absolute nightmare. So il settle with some after market parts but even they are hard to find for some thing's. iv already started pics of the car in, out and under.I just need help setting the thread up.

Wow that takes me back. I passed my driving test in a brand new one of those back in October 1979.

Welcome to the site and good luck with the restoration. You may want to try some classic rallying sites for parts as they love restoring Mk2 Escorts.

Thanks, Ill check those sites. Its so hard trying to keep the parts original when they are not in Production and end up paying more than you should for either slightly used parts or new old stock parts. Plus side Just found powder coating and shot blaster workshop local to me. :). I will keep you posted. Thanks

Since your that way, you must be on that wafer thin line between London and the Garden!

I have looked everywhere for the original stock exhaust and I'm so close. I have 3 out of 4 pieces. I just finished coating these 2 pieces with VHT. I need the last original piece which is the rear silencer. Can anybody point me in the direction? I want this car to be as original as possible . post-47070-0-19496900-1381439120_thumb.j

I found this -

Speak to them - they can probably help you

I also have the feeling several different cars/ engine sizes share the same exhaust

Thanks, but iv checked these. The 1300 is 3mm difference and the company with the rs2000 rear silencer didn't have anything for mk2 1600.

Ford had a tendency to use the "parts bin" and often the parts ware the same on different engine capacities, to get the exact parts may be difficult to track down, as they are "thin on the ground"

There may be other forums/ sites and owners clubs that could help you, and specialized breakers/ suppliers etc, if you "ask around"
