jeebowhite
OK, so to start off with, this is a theoretical question! based on a lot of research I have done on my car! 2003 - 2007 MK1 Focus CMAX 1.6 TI-VCT have a weakness... The gearbox cant handle the torque the engine puts out, and as such it fails. Gearbox dies, and it needs a replacement gearbox. Now, in anticipation of this issue, I have purchased extended warranty for my motor (just incase the worst ever does happen!) however, I am wondering this... theoretically, if the gearbox blew (and were talking the best lump of £4k to resolve!) could you actually drop a donor engine and gearbox in there (perhaps a non CVT but auto gearbox?) and how much would it cost? Or is it just cheaper that when it goes, the car goes!
higgsy
I dont understand Jeebo - what engine is yours? Your profile shows a 1.6 CVT TDCI but then you talk about a 1.6 Ti-VCT which is petrol? CVT to me means Constant Variable Transmission (auto)
