hoggie 34 Posted October 30, 2013 Share Posted October 30, 2013 hi guys problem with the 3i no power to the fuel pump the fuel pump is brand new iv ran it from 12v direct powers there iv checked the fuel pump relay thats all fine the fuel cut off switch is all good checked fuel pump fuse all is well does anyone know if the loom from the pump would have a inline fuse any help would be appreciated cheers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jeebowhite Posted October 30, 2013 Share Posted October 30, 2013 I dont think any of it has an inline fuse, other than the fuseboards and auxiliary fusebox... hoggie 34 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Share Posted October 30, 2013 iv also tried a pump direct to live and earth off the loom but no prime with ignition on im gunna have to trace the loom bk to the fuse box and check for corrosion or a break somewhere,, someone mentioned the interiour switch gives the loom its earth now not sure if thats true hes saying could be a dodgy earth.. wase16ll Posted October 30, 2013 Share Posted October 30, 2013 92 xr3i???? thought they stopped making them in late 80's so not sure, but if fuel pump is under car, was common problem for wiring corrosion/cuts at the pump connection..i know they started fitting pumps in the tank around early 90's, which didnt suffer that problem but dont think xr3i ever had an in tank pump Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
btmaldon Posted October 30, 2013 Share Posted October 30, 2013 Your right, they never had an in tank pump. I think the XR3i went on for a few more years in the Mk4 Escort guise. The Mk3 went up to 1990 or 91 if I remember correctly. I had a 1987 model with the RS Turbo kit, Ford Motor Sport Tiger Stripes and a few other modifications.
