steve-mason2001
Hi all, I have an Escort Mexico, registered 1.1.1973, with a current V5C which states Escort Mexico, the problem is the chassis number. It does not have the usual Ford BFATNJ*****, BUT it has just an 8 number only chassis number. The vehicle has never had any chassis tags since I purchased the car and i've owned it since 1983! I did contact the AVO club, but they didn't shed any light whatsoever. I also went into my local Ford dealership, they gave me a telephone number at Ford, but they were useless. Any body out there got any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated Steve
wase16ll
not sure why you only have an 8 digit vin, (import maybe?) but for the age of the car its legal {think 8 digit is the minimal requirement) end of the day, the vin is a unique number for each car, as long as DVLA are happy with it then shouldnt really matter, think there is a process you can go through if you wish to change it to a 17 digit that relates to the age of the vehicle
AdeMk1
Import or reshell maybe? How far does the history go back before you bought it?
