Should I Change Timing Belt Tensioner

Hi all

My Focus is a 2001 Black 1.6 and i am going to change the cambelt soon. The service history says that a timing belt kit was fitted in Oct 2009 at 85,000 miles. The car is now on 104,000 m. Should i replace the tensioner too as it has only covered 19k miles?(as has the belt).

I have read that the belt should be changed after 5 years, does that go for the tensioner too?

All replies appreciated in advance.

Cheers

Simon

You will be wasting your money changing the belt at that age/mileage. As a confidence check, try to contact the garage that stamped the first belt change to confirm that it was done. If its true then don't worry for another 50k miles
