Mk2 Focus Tailgate Rattle

Hey everyone, i have a mk2 Focus with a rattly tailgate when going over a rough surface. It can be cured by putting tape around the striker plate for the catch but this wears away over time. Is there a permanent cure fo the problem?

does the striker plate feel loose at all generally? have you tried re-securing it?

no it feels fine, just it seems to allow the tailgate to move around too much hence the rattle.

Probably just need to realign the lock.

How would i go about doing that?

basically you need to take the plastic cowling off the bootlid, and then get at the nuts, loosen then amd realign it, then tighten them back up.
