Hi all, sorry if in the wrong place. I have just bought an X Reg Escort.

And the clutch bite is really quite high about half an inch to the end of the peddle.

It's done 93k, I've heard this is very normal for an escort, can anyone help me at all

Many Thanks

Jamie.

high biting point isnt unusual but if its only half inch from the full travel it wont belong before its slipping if not already doing so...

once it slips, will need renewing soon as or you could risk further damage to flywheel

Check the top of your clutch pedal, if you can see an Allen key head where the white ratchet & pawl is (self adjuster) then you can adjust the biting point by adjusting this, if not then either your automatic adjuster is goosed or its ready for a clutch, or both! I've always replaced the automatic adjuster when changing the clutch as its more than likely ready for a new automatic adjuster too.
