I bought a Mk1 Zetec with only one key.

I have a spare ford remote fob is it possible to set it up on this or does it not have remote unlock?

(It does have air con/climate pack/central locking)

Cheers

Hi Kim,

I think the way to check is to remove the interior light. if you have central locking, you should see a small box up in the lining of the roof just above the windscreen?

Nope nothing in the lining apart from the antenna and the light.

I have central locking though. Unlocking the drivers door unlocks the rest.

Anyway to reverse fit it?

Would something like this work?

a kit like that probably would work, although it may not be active in the car so may need adding on with the use of Ford approved software.

It does sound like you dont have it in there already though.

OK I have ordered one, just got my Haynes manual today. So now I need to find all the wires I need to tap into to plumb it in.

I take it most will be at or near the fusebox behind the glove box?

That would ordinarily be where you need to access to be honest, but you might find some wires run in from the engine bay. I havent done this install personally but we can offer advice as and when!

Would you be willing to make an installation guide to share on the forum incase anyone else wants to do this mod?

Sure when I get the bits and have time (and less rain/snow) I will give it a go. Just studying the HM at the moment to trace the wiring.

Yep when you have been used to remote un/locking it is amazing the difference when you get a car that doesn't have it :)

Now I am happy :D (with the locking anyway  )

Result, and an excellent contribution to the guides section, and certainly will look slick with all the pictures and its brazen glory!
