Focus Zetec S Tail Pipe

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have 59 plate zetec s 1.8 and the tail pipe is all manky and i am thinking of replacing.

I dont want a full exhaust or back box as i no this is just a clip on one its the style that the mondeo has too where it points downwards. I don't want an aftermarket one because of the insurance/noise n cant be bothered with all that but has anyone fitted a aftermarket tail pipe. Just want it to look nicer than the one i have.

Does any just fit on? Or is it only the oem one which is about £40 from ford.

Hi gas,

I know you ain't interested in seeing mine then

But if your going to spend 40 pounds your better off searching your local area for an exhaust specialized dealer/fitter

All you need is a stainless exhaust tip and an elbow welded together,

They will custom bend the joint for you and weld it to your existing exhaust muffler along with your choice of tip.

You can even purchase a Remus, pipper performance, or magnaflow exhaust tip on eBay and have it made u to fit your existing exhaust exit.

Buying a tip from a specialized manufacturer will never flake chrome or tarnish, it will last the life of the car,

And you can polish it with autosol paste to protect and restore the shine.

Lifetime job, under 80 pounds and will look like a full system without the insurance hike or noise increase ;)

What lenny said.

This is the end result.

Nice job willy,

How much did that cost you?

The job was done around 2009 at a PowerFlow Garage local to me in Hove Sussex. PowerFlow have independent garages all over the country so check out there Web site for your nearest.

I paid £120 cash for the tip and about a meter of pipe. The back box was untouched.

The tip is the RiAT model I think

Hi guys

I have a Focus Zetec S also. Does anyone have any pics of the Ford tail pipe finisher (finis code 1541000) fitted to theirs? The online pictures show an oval tail pipe but it's a generic picture for the Focus, Mondeo and SMax. Is it in fact an oval pipe or will it just be the polished downward facing extension that come on the Focus Zetec S anyway?

Any help or pictures would be gratefully appreciated....

Thanks

Ellis

That won't fit properly on the Zetec S mate, as mentioned in this thread and others to get a good result that doesn't look crap you need to get a custom tailpipe made by a powerflow/long life dealer etc. Mine was only 65 quid fitted. I researched it extensively and none of the off the shelf tips will work due to the existing tailpipe location in relation to the rear diffuser

Hi Higgsy

Thanks for the heads up on that one! I live on the Isle of Wight so unfortunately no Powerflow dealers/fitters over here. Will have to see if there's anyone local who can 'knock something up'.

There's a reasonably long straight section of exhaust pipe behind the back box so hopefully something can be spliced on!

Cheers

The way they did mine was to cut the existing tailpipe just behind the rear axle and then bend up a bit of tube/weld it all on the bit they cut off was only about a foot long
