Focus 1.8 Tdci 2009 Air Flow Meter Or Egr Valve

Hello!

I have a focus 1.8 tdci 2009...

At slightly faster acceleration ( overtaking or even
accelerate uphill ) engine management light comes on( red exclamation
mark )... or sometimes the orange light for error on ... if I restart the
engine the red engine management light doesn't light any more...while orange light
for engine usually lights for a day...

I noticed that the car after error message has noticeably
more power (before it doesn't have the power that it should have) .

Occasionally when I roll at the intersection or stop at
traffic lights out of gear ...is the engine running sometimes restles... I do not know if
this has something to do with it ....

I had the car at the mechanics and he does not know exactly
what it should be ... because a mistake for air flow meter and possible error for
EGR valve is reported ...

He tried to clean the EGR valve , but he could not open it...
But flap opens well ...

I wonder how to clean the EGR valve ?

Has one of you had similar problems and succeeded to
eliminate them…and where could possibly be a mistake ?

Greetings and Thanks for all the answers!

to clean the EGR valve you would need to remove it and then remove any carbon buildup.

I would start by using electrical contact cleaner, remove the Mass Air Flow sensor, and soak it repeatedly, let it dry and set it back in place.

You might benefit from blanking the EGR valve in order to bypass the EGR valve which should give better performance.
