I can only recommend what I have, which is this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_377107_langId_-1_categoryId_165716

Unfortunately, I left the dog (a pup at the time) in the garage and she found one of the mounting brackets and chewed it to pieces. It's now held onto the rear seat head-rests with a bungee cord.

I use the official Ford one and it is good quality and sturdy.

I have three dogs, two of which are work dogs and go in the boot nearly every day with no dramas.

The official unit attaches to the loops on the boot bulkheads where the rear seats lock on and bracing pins sit in the parcel shelf slots.

If you want to keep the parcel shelf in use I find that even though the dog guard stops the hinge pins sitting in the slots, that the shelf will fit fine with the pins out of the slots.

I tried my universal one in my mk1. It took up too much boot space as the struts were straight down. At the mo I don't have anything fitted and he doesn't try and jump over into the passenger side (yet!). He has put both paws over but that is as far as he has gone.

when i had my 02 plate i used to just let the dog run free on the back seats and on the odd occassion she tried to make it into the front bloke her with my elbow (would only make short trips within 5 miles with her) but now ive upgraded and my car is in pretty nice condition i dont really want her scratching the seats how strong are these guards? shes only a small staffie but she has a nack for finding ways around things (mainly the neighbours fence panels)

My Halfords one (with bungee cord mounting) keeps my 3 year old mental German Shepherd safely in the back.

She's quite big, too.

Malinois?? Where'd you get a Belgian Sheppard from? Rare dog in Britain!

Sorry, WAY off topic!

My Mali is a work dog.

She was one of the first to be bred in conjunction with the MoD Police breeding programme.

She has had one litter of 7 herself and 5 of them went on to serve in Afghan with distinction while the other 2 were kept by the MoD Police for guarding nuclear establishments in the UK.

She's a cracking girl and every bit as robust as a GSD.

I could imagine. I remember seeing the French (i think) using them. Some special police force, possibly military. The dog pulled a man out of a van window..... while it was moving! And while being shot at! Amazing.

Supposed to be great pets if you can find one.

She's my pet (at home) but stand well clear when she's on duty :d.

I know the videos you're referring to, they are definitely 'dynamic' dogs.

I've got one from these guys in my Focus Estate, but I'm sure they do one for the hatchback too https://www.travall.co.uk/

They aren't the cheapest guards out there by any means, but far better than the universal ones IMHO. Easy to fit and rattle-free too.

Hi I use the Halford Mesh dog guard in my Focus 2.5. Bent the lower edge to follow the contor of the back seat. I leave it fitted at all time as I can leave the parcel shelf fitted. It just clamps to the rear seat head rests. Easy to fit/remove if I need to drop the back seats.
