Im looking to service the family cars soon they are:

Ford Focus 2009 1.6 Zetec with 66000 on clock.

Ford CMax 2010 1.6 Zetec 40000 on clock

can someone suggest the best oil to use.

I was going to go with Ford formula F 5w30 fully synthetic or Castrol magnatec 5w30 fully synthetic?

Also should I stay with Fully Synthetic or semi synthetic. The guy at the auto parts store adised to stick with the Ford spec 5w30 Fully Synthetic. Just wondering what you guys think or any one with the same engines what you use in your cars.

also if the fuel filter to be replaced on these models I read somewhere that its non serviceable but just want to check.

also My service check list is as follows

- Oil

- Oil Filter

- Spark Plugs

- Air Filter

- Pollen/Cabin Filter

- Fuel Filter (If its serviceable)

Hello Jabber. I work at a Motor Factors so hopefully can help you out a bit! You are right, the Fuel Filter on both vehicles is what they term a 'Lifetime' filter, hence we have no listing for it. As far as the oil goes, 5w30 is the correct oil grade for both vehicles and it doesn't really matter if it's Semi- or Fully Synthetic. Fully should work a bit longer before breaking down but it more depends on what you can afford!! As you have two cars to do you might opt for a cheaper oil but just make sure it's a 5w30 grade and you should be okay! Some people get caught up with spending mega-bucks on ''name brand'' oils when a decent oil of the same grade usually does just as well!!

Anyway hope that helps you decide. I can't think of anything else you should change.

It would be the ford stuff of castrol magnatec for me, Can anyone confirm if they are the same stuff? Last time I checked the ford stuff it wasn't that expensive either for a change!

i usually buy this ..theyre about 2 mile from me but charge double this price if i get it over the counter ..when i queeried it they said get it off ebay then .. does'nt make sense

those are the three id recommend, you'd probably find cheaper prices if you go to other websites, but just showing you the bottles id recommend. i havent tried the Ford Formula FE so i cant comment on that

the only good thing is the ford formula f is 5 ltrs where s the castrol is 4ltrs

just want to do a good service on the car with decent oil so I thinks its gonna be one of the above. I favour the ford formula F as is it not what ford use when the car is left in for a service but just would like your opinion.

the ford formula f is made by castrol mate and rebranded so they are basically the same oil plugs will be kgk iridium or bosch super plus as standard

I use the mobil fully synthetic one and is really good

Not all ford oil is castrol unless it says on it u will no castrol because it's green in colour but if u ask me u be better use reasonable price oil an change oil every 6 months least

ford formula f is made by castrol and rebranded its a bp petroleum product who make castrol oil just like all ford stuff is, comma make halfords brand oils

it wont say castrol on it it will be bp petroleum who make castrol and ford oil the colour is down to additives so it wont necessarily be the same colour either

Yeah I agree with u art I just sayin I use get oil in grey can couple years ago off ford now they seem sell it in green can wit castrol on front an has green dye in

theyre always changing it was bp now its shell they deal with but the old stock is still castrol new stock will be shell inside maybe shell pay more god knows lol

The injectors are noisy on the 1.6 sigma it's clears up once the car is at full temperature. 

Yes you àre correct...Because once it is warm enough it becomes quite like all's normal...So should I be too concerned or what...Because it is continually sounding the same thing(tappets...)

The sigma engine has solid tappets unlike the old Zetec E found in Escorts, Orions , Mondeos and some fiestas in the early 90's. If u get a big screwdriver place the end on the injectors and the handle to you ear you should hear the tapping sound.
