Gabbo_21
Just been washing the Focus and noticed that one of the headlights seems to have a layer of lacquer or something peeling off. Do Ford cover their headlights with something and if so would I be covered to get it sorted under my last year of warranty? Sorry for poor pics, but difficult to capture. artscot79
Plastic headlights are manufactured with polycarbonate plastic for itstensile strength but it is a very porous plastic, so the manufacturersapply a protective film to the headlight lens. Intense sunlight, heatand humidity combined with the heat of the halogen bulb delaminates theprotective film leaving the lens exposed to the elements and badly inneed of headlight restoration. Over time the lens will develop a cloudy, hazy, discolored appearance and this will diminish the headlightsability to project its beam of light at night and during adverse weatherconditions sadly its either a restoration kit or replacement
Gabbo_21
Think I may argue the case with Ford then under consumer law stating that the headlight has not been of a standard for a reasonable period of time. As I would expect 2 1/2 year set of headlights would be free of defect still. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
artscot79
you can try but they may argue delamination is not something they can control
Gabbo_21
Been down to my local Ford dealership and stood my ground. New headlight due later to day, on consumer law as it is not fit for purchase for a reasonable length of time and put to Ford as a manufacturing fault.
