ed12
Mine was exactly like that this afternoon! I was pleased she didn't get cleaned yesterday :P
MartynS
Mine was pretty dirty actually, though to be fair it has been for a couple of weeks now so it wasn't entirely unexpected. I would have been more surprised if I woke up and it was clean to be honest.
stef123
I jumped in the car tonight to go to asda for some munchies.. I couldn't believe how dirty the windscreen was. I guess this is the answer!
Stoney871
I had it two nights in a row. Horrible grey dust and filthy windows. You should have seen the queues at all the local car washes. Had this last year too.
anya00tan
So that was the reason. I was thinking somebody was playing with saw dust around my area. And I just washed and waxed her the other day. b4zz
had this last year made a right mess of my car lol. not so bad this year just a small bit of dust over the windscreen
higgsy
Mine has been covered in it the last few days and it didn't even rain! directly after I spent 3 days detailing the car like a sticky resiny covering. Gonna give it a rinse today - hopefully it has passed now Sent from my Zetec S using the FOC for Android app
Sheriff
Funny that, I was wondering about this yesterday! I clean the car Sunday, we've had no rain but when I went to the car yesterday morning the windscreen needed a clean. When I did the spray/wipers it wiped a load of brown crap away. Guessed it might have been something like that.
Stoney871
The dust settled even if you just had a heavy dew. It's best washed off rather than wiped as it's very abrasive.
higgsy
Question is has said dust cloud gone now as I want to wash the car again. Today, but not bothering if this dust is still about!
Invisible Man
My car looks like a 1970's Ford Escort.......brown as you like. Really want to go home and clean it, but i'm not sure if it's worth it. Last year we had a recycling plant fire and my old car was caked in ash, used to be black, always looked grey afterwards
higgsy
Just washed mine - couldn't leave it. Had to proper wash it tho straight jet wash wouldn't shift it Sent from my Zetec S using the FOC for Android app

mixmasterlooney
At the car wash and I have lacquer damage everywhere deep chip on the bonnet and scratches never seen before. Since I had my car cleaned saturday I am 100% sure the damage did not exist. The sand has baked itself to the paint work and is almost pulling off the lacquer with it. My advice is to have your car jet washed asap before rubbing it with any kind of cloth material at all Anything that rubs onto the sand scratches the paint Sent from my automated robot M1X-M4573R-700N3Y
mixmasterlooney
This is what the sand looks like even after a good jet wash + hand wash Black spots = harden sand Sent from my automated robot M1X-M4573R-700N3Y
Invisible Man
Mine currently looks like this. Gonna clean it soon Sent from my GT-I9505 using Ford OC mobile app
Gazst170
Has anyone else noticed even after washing your car a coulpe of hours later the brown marks are still there just the same as before washing. Stoney871
Use a good jetwash (hot if available) and a good hot foam to lift the sand out of the lacquer/wax layer. Don't wash down with a chamois or sponge as the grit will just push in harder and scratch the paint.
Sheriff
I woke up to it again this morning! I'll give it a few days then wash it off as I bet it will be covered again tomorrow ...
higgsy
Mines stayed clean all afternoon so think it may have passed, the other day it was dirty again after an hour of cleaning the windows. I had a lot of it on but think the claying/polish/wax I gave it on Saturday has helped me although I think this wax has been stripped a bit seem to form a resiny almost glass like layer Sent from my Zetec S using the FOC for Android app
