Wheel Balancing Weights

Featured Replies

I had a set of Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance fitted to my car yesterday for the rear to replace a worn conti and dangerous (no grip) autogrip that were on the car when I got it, bought from tyreshopper and fitted by National tyres in West Brom. First of all really notice the difference in grip and ride quality/noise, but......

I was washing it this morning and noticed there were no stick on weights anymore, checking underneath the car I see that that have used clip on weights o. The inside rim of the wheel.

Is it standard to fit clip ons onto alloys? I thought it was standard to use stick ons on alloys, although a Google showed clip ons were available specifically for alloys.

I had Kwik fit, fit clip ons once when I had a new set of tyres on my last car and they used steel wheel weights that fell off when I touched them! When I took it back there they replaced with stick ons.

I must say they seem nice and secure this time and only one small one per wheel.

Interested on your thoughts on this, is there an industry standard?

I think it tends to be the garages preference, some will do stick on, others will do clip on. Every time I have been to kwikfit, they have used clip ons.

As above really. It's just a preference thing. I have had a few stick on weights blown off at the car wash which is quite annoying.
