Service Schedule

I want to give me son's 2007 S Max (diesel) a service but am stuck because there is no Haynes manual to follow. Can anyone locate a service schedule for me or some guidance on which car model Haynes manual would be the closest.

Its a really helpful forum. I'm not affiliated with them - and I no longer own an s-max so don't pay the membership any more, but it's well worth the money - which is only levied to cover the server hosting costs.

i dont belive that information that has been kindly posted up by members on how they have over came problems with there cars, should be locked away from genuine members who need the help.and then get a response of 'well if you pay and become a full member' it gets unlocked for you.hence my post above saying is it a bussiness or a helpful forum.i belong to a few forums and they do not charge and there technical sections are open to all after a few posts,the info offered up by there members are for the greater good of the forum.if the members wish to donate thats up to them,but being told constantly that to get any kind of help you have to pay then in my eyes someone is earning a tidy crust.its not generally a very busy forum is it,i wonder why.

i dont expect anyone else to share my opinion but thats life.

I think you're being a little unfair. Other "free" forums are usually brand specific (such as this one), not model specific. Consider how many millions of Ford owners there are out there compared with how restrictive an audience you have when just concentrating on one model (S-max).

Then consider how many companies queue up to sponsor forums like this for advertising because of the large Ford-wide audience compared with how many companies would be interested in targeting only S-max owners?

So the guys that run the S-max owners club forum get NONE of the money from advertising/sponsorship that funds 90% of the car forums on the net - therefore they have to cover their costs somehow. Would you be prepared to pay £1000+ per year for server hosting & BB site license fees out of the goodness of your heart?

So why should anyone else.

AFAIK they have about 100-150 paying members. Each paying £10 each. That probably doesn't even cover the hosting costs.

And for that £10 membership they also send you a sticker to put in your car - which costs money.

And the 2nd year onwards is £7.50.

There are 4 guys running the site.

Now if you really think that's "earning a tidy crust" then I'm sorry but you're delusional.

well, I can agree with both parties. At the end of the day cost needs to be covered, our forum is fortunate in that we have revenue from the likes of advertising, I wont even dare ask Steve how it covers it, however, our forum does have the additional "supporters" option. Where if you pay for a years membership, you get access to other parts of the site, and also get a lot of benefits that the forum has worked hard to achieve (theme park discounts and such like!). So for us, its not something that we need to charge for (oh and dont forget (or diss!:p) the free sticker! :D). Because of that it brings in two sources of revenue for further investment in the forum and its members.

Whereas as mentioned above, a more specific forum attracts smaller amounts of advertising, so they need to make their money somehow. Its a world of business out there, and I can understand why people need to do what they do!

Thing is though, with the SMAX owners club, they have a lot of specialist knowledge, guys who work and play with these cars go on there and share there experience, it attracts a smaller audience, but its good because that smaller audience have targeted knowledge at one product. Here, we have a lot of guys who have experience with all sorts of motors. Everybody still gets very good advice, and most times walk away from the forum with a smile on there face, there wallet a damned site heavier and the pleasure of knowing its member 1 - 0 Ford. However, going over to the SMAX owners club (by the way to clarify, I am not affiliated with them in any way) you could end up getting better knowledge still from guys who know every nut and bolt of that motor!

Its swings and roundabouts at the end of the day, but at least your initial question of the servicing has hopefully been satisfactorily answered :)
