Rust And Exposed Metal Question

Hi,

I have a few questions about my focus (again!)

I have just changed my reg plates over and I have exposed some bare metal on the boot (it is behind the reg plate so you cant see it normally) however, this being a ford, if it don't do something about it it will start to rust. So my first question is what should I do with it?

I'm not fussed about it matching the paintwork because it will be hidden by the reg plate, I just want to sort it before it becomes an expensive job!

My other question was that there is a small amount of rust on the rear arches, by the back doors. Again, unless you get under there, you can't really see it. Is there any preventive action I can take to stop this getting any worse?

Thanks in advance :)

Google rust killer. There is some stuff available that stops or prolongs the rust process.

With regards to the bate metal if your not fussed about colour match just clean it up then spray it.

I had a bit of bare metal around the number plate holes were grit had got between the plate and the paint work. Just a tiny bit. I painted it and then stuck duct tape over the raised bits where the holes are to protect the paintwork.
