Ford Fiesta Mk6.5 Installing Drl's

Featured Replies

Hello

I just purchased these lights daytime running lights and they should be arriving soon: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251416397470?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

They will apparently fit into the existing fog light part but I have no idea how to install these and am wondering if anyone has done something like this and whether it will be a tough job to do.

The installation guide is : http://www.hidled.com/system/files/8/original/HL-DRL-LED-04.pdf?1294155756

and this the official website for the lights i think : http://www.hidled.com/products/LED-Daytime-Running-Lights-HL-DRL-LED-06-56

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Mike

Not sure i'd want to do away with my fog lamps just to have DRL's in the same place. I'm sure they will be a close fit, more than likely be some fiddling about to do to get them to fit right. And if the description is correct, they should just be plug and play. You will however be left with a front fog light switch in the car that is useless !!! You may even have to blank the switch to pass an MOT, as i'm sure the regulations state, that if the car is fitted with them, they must be working. I may be wrong on this though.

My DRL's required an EARTH, a LIVE (but not direct to the battery for some reason) and a feed to the headlights to let the relay know when to dim or in your case, 'turn off' the DRL's. Let us know how you get on.

^ Correct, if fitted it has to work, so when he goes to test the fogs and they don't come on with the switch = likely fail.

Could be the case anyway, All Headlight washers on Clios with Xenons pack up as soon as the car left the factory, everyone just removed them and fitted blanks, but on them there was no way to work them individually, they only came on with the headlights on, and they had to be turned on manually and not on auto so couldn't be tested properly.

Are you both 100% sure that it would an MOT test? I've been reading up and I thought that they didn't test the front fog lights as they were optional extras whereas they would definitely test the rear fogs as its mandatory.

I also have Auto headlights so would installing these DRL's interfere with them too?

You would have to do some research to find out about the MOT to get a positive answer, but the auto headlights won't be an issue, mine work fine with the auto lights.

If fitted they have to work, fact was introduced last year.

I've received my lights and the instructions looks pretty straight forward but does anyone know how to remove the fog lights surrounds?
