Fiesta 2009 1.25 Zetec About To Buy But Worried About Possible Back End Bang

Featured Replies

Hi.

Hope a new member can appeal for help. I invite comments on any of the following:-

I am days away for sealing the day on a Fiesta 1.25 Zetec in red. Has 18k on clock.

Car is from a dealer for &£7049 bargained them down a bit..

Had a test drive and the brakes were a bit noisy. Other than the rest the braking worked well (light brake effort required. To stop). Garage dude suggested a couple of runs should clear that slow /noisy brakes.it looks like the car has been on plot for a while,

On the test drive I noticed tne rear parcel shelf looked. knackered. Its starting to look like a wooly mammoth . So checked under the carpet in the hatch (as close to the back if the car as possible) and found 1 1/2" wide stripe of non sanded down sealant/mastic between the rear vehicle panel containing the number plate etc and the floor of the hatchback. The garage said its normal.

I'm looking to confirm whether ford roll then off the production line or. Not. I will of course apologise if my concerns are proven wrong.

If you could post a photo taken of under the carpet at the rear of your 2009 Fiesta 1.2 hatchback I would be very grateful.y

The garage have assured me they can't sell accident damaged vehicles so I do t know what to think.

I was supposed to pick up today but the car wasn't ready. Not that they bothered to call. This meant my hire car went back unnecessary early. However in recompense they did provide a loaner.

The vehicle panel fit can be seen on the attached vehicle with identifying marks removed at this stage. If you could leave comments and photos of the floor-pan meeting the rear of your vehicle (without carets pulled back please).

Thank you so much for your help. I'll feed back results.

Andy

The sealent is normal ill show you my focus,

And ford fiestas had a supplier/manufacturer of brake pads which would squeak when applied,

Ford have since changed supplier however the squeaking pads work 100% the noise is there only flaw, as result no product recall occoured

Thats a factory job, they are all sealed like that, Ford never used to, but they had to think of someway to stop their cars from rusting on the Forecourts ( Sierras used to do this ).

If worried I'd check for paint irregularities, such as over paint and minute runs, the boot floor would have slight creases in it, the wheel well would be creased as well, they are pretty much impossible to get back to immaculate, check how well the boot closes, if there is any agg and takes a few efforts then maybe there is something wrong there.

Have you HPI'd the car? new car with an accident would have been done through insurance, only costs a few £.

Did the discs have any rust on them? normal if sitting around and will rub until it's worn off, if squealing check for a lip on the brake disc edge, and check when the last time the pads were changed, if they've not been done in the last say 8K then factor that into account you'll need some very soon, can also just be grit in between the pad and disc, noticeable by large scratches on the disc surface.
