Just a few questions. My cars using a lot of oil.. I'm assuming it's burning it, but if I look at the sump the back is wet and front is dry.. It's a 1.6 petrol with 114000 miles on it, is it a common problem wth high mile Zetecs?

Also, it runs on high revs often on tick over when it starts and gradually gets lower, my mums does this too same engine as mine but it's newer and got 61k on it.. What's this?

Looking into buying an st 170 it's recently had a new clutch fitted but it's slipping what's causing it. And I've noticed a common trend of oil leaks with them. What is that often?

1) sounds like your sump gasket may need changing, as i have the same prob, but mines on the front but it only leaks very very slightly (so much that it doesn't show on the under-tray but is on the bolts)

2) does this happen on cold start up? if so could just the automatic choke kicking in, then the rev's drop once they are ready to...

3) if it has a new clutch fitted, this shouldn't slip, make any forms of noise/rattles etc....
