Mk6 Ghia Prefacelift 1.6Tdci Vs Facelifted Zetec 1.4Tdci?

Hi I am looking to buy a fiesta sometime within the next few weeks, near to me there is a pre facelifted MK6 Ghia 1.6tdci and one that is facelifted Zetec 1.4tdci.

I am not sure which one i should go for, since they are both within my price range with the Zetec being £100 extra.

Is there big differences between the facelifts? And are they both equally as reliable?

Sorry I am a newbie with cars in general so any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, im not 100% sure if theres alot of difference between them. Alls i can say is i bought a wee mk6 zetec a few months ago and its a brilliant wee car at the moment. Real fun to drive. I always had new volkswagen golfs about me to drive but thought of a nice wee cheap car to run, so i bought one, and im happy with it. If this is helpful...my zetec is a late 2005 model and i paid £1600 for it with 64k on the clock, altho mine is a 1.25ltr petrol.

All I can offer on this is,,,, the pre 2008 1.6tdci did suffer with problems with blocked oil feed pipes causing blown turbos. This was fixed for the mk7 engines. Regular oil changes should lower the risk of this affecting you, but you never know a cars history ?

And From all I can see I think the Ghia has leather seats while the newer model has a trip computer and an oil -o-meter (not a digital one) which i prefer over the digital fuel gauge.

However is the problem with the 1.6tdci really that severe? Does this also apply to the 1.4tdci as Im guessing that the 1.4 is just a detuned 1.6?

And if it applys for both is there a warning sign I should look out for and how much would I need to fix the problem?

Not heard many if any (from memory) about the 1.4tdci.
