Dpf

Featured Replies

Hi all new to the forum...just bought a 2005 ford focus 1.6 tdci.

And today is the second day of owning it..... went to it this morning and the eml came on so code read it and came up with P2584/U0118.

I know this has to do with the DPF system.

My question is where/who do i go see about deleting the DPF and remapping after i remove the "guts" from the exhaust.

I'm base in Middlesbrough, any help/adive would be grateful

  • mines remapped and dpf removed- but interesting that you manually removed dpf from the system -and not remapped yet but able to reset light - wonder how long before it comes on again? keep us posted p

  • he's talking rubbish pal -the dpf is purely a visual check -that sensor is nothing to do the check at all. ..believe what you choose- but trust me that method you have advised is the half assed method

  • who's doing the reamp? you have several companies around your area that will do the job properly- as i was going to travel up that way to get mine but found a tuner that offered to do it as advised. m

OK so found a local tuning garage.....asked about Dpf removal and a remap.....

not a problem the lad say we will remove the Dpf and fill you mixture tank with diesel and remap the ecu so no lights come on ever again....

right i said ...so you don't unplug the plug behind the rear passenger seat....

no he said we like to leave everything connected .......

right so you fill the mix tank with diesel and remap the ecu...so what happens when the mix tank empties..?

eeeerrrmmmm..... the light will come on to tell you to put more diesel in.

really i said ..and how much is this all going to cost me....

£325 the lad said ..... we do them all the time and have no problems.

think this is wrong some how....surely when they do a Dpf removal and remap there should be no need to fill a 2.5 litre tank full of diesel just so the ecu knows there's something in the container.

Hi Lenny.

Thanks for the info.... i'm use to landrovers and use to modify them to the hilt, and i've not had a car since the 1980's and back then it was point's and condensors .....lol...so all this is new stuff to me,i've got an egr blank plate coming, which i shall be fitting myself,i can remove the dpf myself as i'm a dab hand with a welder and grinder....just the programming of the ecu would be the one thing i could not do as i don't have the software,so i shall phone him back and see how much he will charge just for the programming.

So !Removed! true Lenny ........ don't get me wrong the newer landrovers have EGR's but we just blank them off straight away, and turn the pump and turbo up abit for more ummmph, but the new cars out today have to much electricky to go wrong........i mean i've just picked the wife up from work and an orange light came on with the warning.... WASHER FLUID LOW .... for fooksake can they tell if you !Removed! while you drive...lol

Yer don't you worry Lenny ... i take all precautions when dealing that type of stuff.

Could they not just fill the mix container with say like 2.5L of diesel additive instead of a diesel mix ,than at least it would be beneficial to the system...?

just a thought.....

ok what about exhaust modding.....any thoughts....was thinking about putting a ST 120 system on from the cat back over....... as when the car is remapped it will have 135BHP ....

Lenny ... the bloke doing the remap who i spoke to earlier said to take all the guts out of the exhaust ......... his reason been that the "cat" section will rattle ... whats your view bud.

Lenny....... how long can i drive about once the DPF has been removed....... got use of a 4 post lift on saturday to remove the DPF...but the lad doing the remap and DPF remove software can't do remap till 3 weeks from now....... will it do any damage or you think it would be best not to remove DPF for now....?

cheers lenny....ok there is 1 SENSOR ,and no pipes going to the exhaust ...... it does have the eloys system.. but it's squirted in the fuel in the tank.....so i've been told.

Does he not have to delete the Dpf of the ecu ....?

And he said it take about an hour to the remap....?
