Squeaky Brakes!

Featured Replies

I've got a 63 plate fiesta with 8k miles on and my brakes are squeaking when I use them. Getting really annoying, and ideas??

Could either be because they're new or they've worn too quick. Both ends of the scale tbh. Should be under warranty though yeah?

I sold my mk6 with 40k odd miles on it. I'd never needed new brakes. Sometimes if my missus had been driving the car for a week or two the brakes would be a bit squeaky. I used to take the car for a spin and be a bit heavier on them. Cleared it right up.

Try getting a jet wash in there and give them a good clean, it could be bits of grime built up causing it and giving them a good blast with decent cleaner will clear them up and stop the squeaking if that is the problem.

I have been out in my 14 plate ST-2 yesterday after some heavy use of the brakes I noticed mine are squeaking a bit and I've done 3k on the clock so it's time for a clean with mine I think :)

If its under warranty, take it back.

If not. Try taking the pads out, give them a clean and put some copper grease on the backs of them, and see if that helps.

I'd be a bit more gentle than using a jet washer & cleaner around the brakes, especially as it's more likely to make the problem worse by damaging seals & wires & blasting out any anti squeal grease from your pads/callipers.

Either strip the brakes down & clean them, or better still take the car back to the dealer & get them to do it under warranty.
