Speaker Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all...right,looking to install new speakers etc in my 2009 fiesta zetec S..I just have the standed head unit and front speakers..would like to upgrade the front and add rear speakers also.

I have no fader and after looking through forums there is a lot of conflicting answers saying I need to have the car configured to accept 6 speakers..some people say just install the rear speakers and they'll work some people say they wont....anyone had any experience with this problem ??

there is a lot of arguments about this but, if ford configured your car for 6 speakers but only installed 4 then your fine but ford didnt config every car for 6 speaker, its hit and miss weather you have it or not, i just done the best thing, run a speaker to rca convetor cable from the head unit to an amp then run as many speakers as the amp will take easy peasy

Your right, there is conflicting answers everywhere...I just popped into the main dealer and spoke to their main mechanic and he said just install rear speakers ,the headunit will pick them up and the fader will come up no problem..but like you say its a hit or miss job !!

Yh you could spend money get vetything done and then they dont work and there aint no point in that, so its easier to go for the amp option m8

Just borrow some cheap ones and see if they work before spending money.

I am always baffled why they bothered fitting so many different versions of these. My Zetec has a nice beefy 6 speaker unit (silver facia) but many had the weaker units although they look the same. The Zetec S especially should have had the better system as standard.

If you don't have the rears wired it's possible you have the lower power output version anyway so you may be better off going for the upgrade. The speakers are probably perfectly ok as they always rate them higher than the amp ( I understand they fitted the same speakers regardless of head unit?) so your amp is probably the weak link.

Yeah there seems to be no ryhme or reason to the different versions of audio units and speaker set up fitted in zetecs.

I'm just gonna get a top drawer amp and speakers fitted front and back. ...
