1.8Tdci Rear Brakes

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I got an advisory last year for my rear brakes. I took the wheels off today to clean them and the back pads are nearly shot.

I've had a look on euro car parts and pagid 280mm solid discs (I'm sure the rears are non-ventilated if I remember correctly) and pads come in at £70. Ford parts uk are £60 + vat just for the discs. I believe the pads are £30 odd quid + vat and they appear to be a brand called motor craft.

The pagid pads are not suitable for sensors. Would my car have sensors to alert me to low brake pad level? Are the pagids up to the job?

My experience with track cars is that the discs aren't greatly important but the pad really is.

Thanks,

John.

I dont believe that these cars have low brake pad warnings, certainly not that I have seen!

I didn't think it had them but I just wanted to make sure. Cheers!

Just an update for this. I ended up getting the Pagid 280mm discs and pads for £70 delivered to the door (Eurocarparts). No issues with them so far and they come with a rather fetching silver coating, as opposed to the rusty one I had on the previous discs!

I always use pagid stuff these days for my own car and any that I'm working on. Never had any complaints and they are well priced too.
