Nightmare... 2 Month Old Zs Stuck In 3Rd

Coming home from the cinema tonight, changed from third to fourth at around 3500, heard a very quiet very quick crunch then it wouldn't change down or up.

It feels as though it is a link in the gearbox... But I'm not at all technical.

Gear stick is floppy but stuck just going in the row of 3rd to 4th, straight in that line and does not move side to side. Clutch still working.

So instead of a 3 hour wait I have booked an rac technician to come out at, 10.30. If he can't do anything am I best getting it towed to the closest Ford garage?

Any ideas what it might be?

Sounds like a broken sychro.

Sounds like the clip-on rod end has popped off the cable, this is situated under the gear lever gaiter or the other end at the gearbox.

Use ford assist if its new bad luck about the gear problems I'm sure its something simple

So I cancelled the Rac and got Ford assist out... The very helpful guy from AA had me back on the road in 10 minutes.

He just said the gear linkage had popped off and to book it in with Ford asap
