Problems With Ford Focus Mk1 2002

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Ford Focus MK1 2002 1.6 Petrol.

When I'm in gear 3 or above and put my foot down I get really high revs and no go, It sorts itself out after about 5 - 10 seconds.

When I have the bonnet Up and I rev the car I can see white smoke coming from the back of the engine, And the exhaust makes a popping noise too.

I also have a clogged CAT, Needs a new clutch, Will that be causing any of that ?

Sometimes when I go round a corner I can hear a screeching noise from the left front wheel.

Thanks for any help.

Regards, Chris.

If the engine is revving when you put the foot down it not going anywhere then tilt would suggest your clutch is worn or contaminated.

How do you know the cat is clogged? It will be rubbing very poorly if indeed it is.

Forgot to mention I need a new clutch, Do you know what would be causing the smoke under the bonnet ?

Leaking oil would be my guess, could also be why your clutch is slipping

Agree with stef check the brake fluid it feeds the clutch it may be that the thrust bearing seal has started leaking contaminating the clutch as a result it will smoke and slip look under the gearbox for any drips of oil it may be a slow leak but either way youll need a new clutch and thrust bearing anyway
