Absolutely, my focus st tdci had a run for its money with Abarth. It was a chipped one though!

On the contrary, I speak from experience.

I owned a remapped 1.9 Grande Punto with 190 bhp and shedloads of torque. In a straight line that was probably quicker than the Black. In corners a totally different proposition, the GP was much heavier. The 1.4 turbo petrol Abarth is also a much heavier car.

Fiat are also well known for "overstating" performance. Something that was often discussed in Fiat Forums. The Black and Red editions on the other hand are very light, nimble and handle many times better, I suspect the performance figures are also understated.
