Ford Fiesta Durashift

Featured Replies

Hi there i have a 53 plate ford fiesta durashift which wont start and has the code p0810. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a detailed run down of how to change it to manual??????

This might be worth a read:

It seems that if a door is ajar it can cause this odd issue.

Alternatively you could look at this durashift fix:

But as to your question "how to convert it to a manual" I wouldnt bother. The cost to change a cars transmission is rediculous, you have to reprogram the ECU which can cost a fortune, and if everyone refuses to do it for you, you then need to buy a new ECU, a new GEM, Install a clutch pedal, set up an entire hydraulic clutch system, replace the gearbox and the clutch....

For what the car is worth, (no disrespect intended), but the market value may be about £1500-£2000? your probably looking at trippling that at least to convert it, and then theres the time and effort.

Its always easier to say than to hear, but you probably are better off biting the bullet on this one, sell the car for spares / repairs and replace it with a fully manual model, it looks like you could be spending at least the cars value just to diagnose it

Yeh mate think your right on the button there. Thanks for the info, not worth the hassle really. Anyone wanna buy a non-starting fiesta......... :) :(:wacko: .

You have nothing to lose by trying the durashift fix that I linked to!

If you break it, its no worse than it is, so the worst you can do is fix it!

Both my actuators are moving freely ive had them off and i can move them no bother. Its the tcm thats going to have to come off and i think i can get it re-conditioned ?????..... Would it be a hard job to remove this from the car???

It would be tricky at best, but right now you have nothing at all to lose, no matter how hard it is, at least you will be in no worse a position than you are right now! You can spend a few quid and fix it if you put the effort in, or you can stay as you are out of pocket.

its gotta be worth a shot!

i will have a good look tomorrow night. I was wondering what happens to the clutch fluid pipe as this seems to go into the tcm? Does it mean that it will need bled when the repair on the unit has been done and would that mean bled through using ford ids???? Sorry for all the questions never done any of this before

It will need bleeding if parts are replaced, but you dont need IDS to bleed a system, you need to fill the clutch, open the valve and bleed the system.

but theres no clutch pedal ???????? I thought that would be why i had to use IDS ?

I shoulodnt think so, you could probably achieve the same results by just swapping between neutral and drive with the bleed screw open?

ahh ok thanks very much for your advice and your time tonight i very much appreciate it. :) cheers

No worries, I hope you can fix it, as I have been in a similar position to you, thought I was going to lose the 3K I invested in the CMAX at one point, thankfully fate intervened, but it was a scary time sitting around wondering how you can get out of the hole!

I hope you can get it fixed, if nothing else but to get rid cheap.

IMHO, if you do fix it, Part Ex the car to a garage / trader, you might lose out on the private sale, but at the end of the day - a man of the trade selling the motor will take the cost of the repairs, and they can afford it much more than the average Joe you may sell to privately.
